View Full Version : Parts & Books
Nightshade 01-25-2006, 02:56 PM Hi all.
Ok...two more questions. I read somewhere on this site about what books to get, but I can't find the thread now. Help please...anyone? Anyone? I'm thinking of going to Amazon and picking up Schleicher's Slot Car Bible and Slot Car Racing: tips, tricks, and track plans. Are those two a good buy or is there something better?
Also, I was wondering if there was one place to get parts for the super G+ and JL X-traction chassis (e.g. wheels, tires, magnets, pins, etc.) or if there were several to purhcase from?
I am closest to Memphis and there just isn't much here....a couple Hobby Towns.
I just came back from a funeral in Omaha....much more there, but didn't want to purchase something at that time if there was a better place one of you could lead me to......
Thanks, and sorry if this isn't the place to post this. Newbies! What can one do with us! :)
AfxToo 01-25-2006, 07:11 PM You can't go wrong with any of these vendors:

Bud's HO is great too, just can't find their new link on this PC...
Also, check E-Bay. Many vendors now have a "store" there where you can "buy it now" without messing around with an auction. Or you can play the E-Bay auction game.

TK Solver 01-25-2006, 09:08 PM I have Bud's address as simply http://www.budshocars.com.
I bought some X-Traction parts ("tune-up kits") from the MikeWilzon E-Bay store and he was easy to work with. He bought up dozens of cheap cases of JL F&F cars and is parting them out at reasonable prices.

Scheliecher's book is more focused on 1/32 cars, but it's a quite interesting books with lot of plans and how to's about tracks in general. Also good pictures. I own it and bought it even if I knew it was not HO only related :)
Nightshade 01-26-2006, 11:33 PM I won bids on four of Mike Wilzon's JL Fast & Furious last Friday evening....the black Charger, the blue Yenko Camaro, a silver Nissan Skyline, and a bronze Mazda RX7. Total + shipping was $36 and change. Good? I'm also thinking of getting a yellow Supra and a copper Eclipse for $8.15 ea.
So.....if the books I mentioned are predominantly for 1/32, what would be a good buy for an HO (1/64) book?
Hey AfxToo....I saw Frary's landscape book on Amazon...but it was a 2nd edition. I noticed your reply on a thread mentioning you had a 3rd edition....was it really a 3rd, or was it the 2nd edition that I saw last night????
Thanks,
Mike
Marty 01-29-2006, 12:09 AM Nightshade,

Marty
AfxToo 01-29-2006, 10:36 PM was it really a 3rd
Yes, I have the 3rd edition that I got from Amazon recently. I also have the 2nd edition that I've had for years.
Nightshade 01-30-2006, 11:14 PM Ok, thanks. I'll go hunting on Amazon.
