View Full Version : oval racing at Speedzone
jonnycash 01-23-2006, 12:20 PM This past Sunday, I ran the oval at Speed zone in Rocky Hill Ct. It is probably the most challenging oval track I have ever raced on. Long narrow straightaways, and very long square corners.
I suggest anyone planning on doing the neot tour, get up there to do some practice beforhand. All in all a great place to race. The guys running it are great, and the carpet is in excellent condition. I had a lot of fun there and can't wait for the tour to make it there. -Jon
omnis85 01-23-2006, 05:11 PM Dave is a super guy to deal with. He is open to ideas on how to set it up. Nick and I spoke yesterday breifly on it and hopes to make it down there to test. I hope. A suggestion I made awhile back. That is going to be one hell of a day of racing. Jon did you get a chance to practice the 4 cell SK there? Just wondering since I think the majority will be running 4 cell for the tour correct?
jonnycash 01-23-2006, 06:23 PM I was unable to test the 4-cell car there due to speed control issues. As far as I know the only sk's on the tour are going to be 4-cell, unless the 6 cell guys all get together an do it. I don't see that happening though.
I was thinking that the hardest parts of the track were the long narrow parts. If he were to make a little shorter and make the poles the outside wall instead of the inside, it would become much more drivable. I understand he doesn't want to disrupt the on-road to much, but maybe he would for the tour race.
You are right though--- great guy and an excellent facility. Pit space may be tight, but we can squeeze together. He has an excellent layout on pit tables, as far as the height and the shelf. He did a real nice job on them.
jonnycash 04-25-2006, 11:02 PM Next stop on the neot... unfourtunately I won't be able to make it.
omnis85 04-26-2006, 07:34 AM yea because your pitching tents or tables-lol
PUF19 04-26-2006, 09:33 AM we will be running on the inside of the poles, and a bit shorter on the strights.

jonnycash 04-26-2006, 03:59 PM It shouldn't be that bad, if he does the way nick is saying.
omnis85 04-27-2006, 06:57 PM I pitch more tents than a 14 year old boy at hooters :dude:

omnis85 04-30-2006, 12:27 PM Lets do roll call for this weekend at speedzone. whos in
Racin'Jason 8 04-30-2006, 09:17 PM I'm 99% sure I will be there - but I'd like a confirmation on the layout. After Maximus I'm in the mood for some wide sweeping corners, just like home! I've seen their website, but it's hard to paint a picture for oval - how about some infield specs Mr. Leone? It would definately help out for people that are coming on Sunday.

omnis85 04-30-2006, 09:43 PM nick mentioned last night it will be inside the polls but length will be the same. I can say this it will be a paper clip type. Winner will have the first track record there-lol
