I thought when I first opened my GL GTO convertible that it was larger than my JL GTO, but when I finally got the two cars side by side, they're actually very similar. The GL is slightly longer, but this is hardly noticeable.

I will say that I like the fron end of the GL more. The detail is just a bit finer and the GTO text looks more authentic.

The overall shape of both cars is very similar the hoods look almost as though they could be interchanged. The undersides of the cars are also very similar in detail.

The JL sits slightly higher in the rear, but that is just due to the larger rear wheels.

The GL engine compartment is much better, but this is a bit of an unfair comparison because the JL is is an older casting, so I did not include pics.

Two great cars... from two great dicast companies.

Great comparison! It would be interesting to see GL GTO's engine compartment though.

Hi Teddy,

The plate on the GTO is from Oregon...

Both goats are really cool and there isn't much difference in them. nice job. Now where can I find a black GTO like that one at.

Greg, thanks! It's beautiful indeed. I like it, how the engine bay is painted flat black.

If you put them side by side, the GL looks more like the real thing front and rear. The taillights are far closer to the 1:1 car than the JL version. It tends to look more toylike in that area. If you put the JL 66 and the GL and JL 67's side by side, you find the 66 to be off in proportions and too thick in the roof sail panel area. The 67's are also larger, when all three should be the same size. Overall, I really like the GL 67 the best, I just wish the colors were closer to the real thing than what was chosen. Now, I'd like to see GL do an accurate 66 SS 396, since the JL one was pretty poorly done.
