View Full Version : Slotcars on Google Video
zanza 01-20-2006, 05:41 PM Just upped a movie we made (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3913728010115758932&q=slot+car) on a friend's track.
The cam is inside the car and is of quite good quality....Enjoy
noddaz 01-20-2006, 06:28 PM Nice video!
I liked the "hands from above" lifting the overpasses....

zanza 01-20-2006, 06:40 PM LOL...yes the camera wasn't so smaller as we thought :hat:
AfxToo 01-20-2006, 06:45 PM That is so cool but I think I'm going to have nightmares of giant hands trying to grab me while I'm driving...
This in-car video thing really intriques me. It's just a matter of time before we'll be able to stream live video over the web from an in-car camera. It's not a matter of IF it will happen, just WHEN. That will open up all kinds of new twists on slot car racing.
zanza 01-20-2006, 07:09 PM I think it's already possible with good quality in a 1/32 scale car....but in an HO it's not yet possible with a sufficent quality.....
But the tries they have already done at scaleracers.com with a tiny cam with transmitter could work for streaming.
Instead of connectin it to a VCR as they apparently do, they should connect direct to a PC and then the digital signal could be aired, or streamed directly.....But one more time quality is not really good, for the price of this tiny cam (at least here in Europe where you can't find any under 40 Euros - 50$)
And I think PARKNDL has also mount a cam in a car.... but have'nt yet seen the results in term of movie
ParkRNDL 01-20-2006, 07:30 PM Yeah, I do. See the whole grisly story here:

I had some issues with interference from the motor. They seem to be worked out, and I shot probably an hour or two of track footage, but now it's on VHS and I never got a video capture card, so I haven't gotten anything up on the net yet. Anybody know where I can get a video capture card cheap? :D
I actually did some video with a borrowed camera truck a while back, before I built mine, and I sent a copy of the tape to John at Scaleracers, so when you look at his video page, there's a couple there down at the bottom that he put together from my footage.
Man, I just went through the old thread, and now I'm all wishing I had that stinkin card to get this stuff finished...

edit: Zanza, that vid is COOL... kinda neat having sound! The camera I got has no sound capability...
roadrner 01-20-2006, 08:48 PM I'd give the movie  . Just like being behind the wheel. Watch out for that hand. ;) rr

I could do that right now, IF my track was running. We used to run the first live slot racing web cam a couple of years ago. It piped through my Dazzle video capture box. Right now all I would have to do is hook the wireless video receiver into the capture box and get my web cam software going. You could run live in-car, stationary cameras, or even helmet cams on the guys racing. :p
The next craze would be downloading that on your phone!

In Europe, we can do that with the latest 3G networks....

We made it more than 2 years ago and we mount the smallest digital camera with video capabilities that one of us had, directly on a chassis without body on it and voilą!
But I'll love to make it on an HO track with good image quality... Need some better cam than the one actually existing
videojimmy 01-24-2006, 08:37 PM What brand of wireless camera did you use? I've bought two different brands and both required a TON of light before I could get any image. Itls very frustrating

It was not a wireless, simply a digital camera with video function.... The simply taken .MOV out of it's card, assemblin a little the movie and uploaded
But on 1/32 cars, it's easier to fit a camera
videojimmy 01-24-2006, 09:24 PM I;m sorry Zan-man.. I was referring to the camera truck the other poster was building
Sorry for the confusion
BTW, you video was very cool!

Personally, I have been moving to PutFile.com (http://media.putfile.com/One-Slot-Car-Heat) to host our club videos.
Thanks for sharing!
