I can't decide if the GL impala is too big, or if the JL is just too small?

In case anyone was wondering. The GL tires are way too big for the JL.

But you can squeeze the JL shoes on a GL

I like the GL cars a lot....especially the Mustangs. But, in this case, I think the JL is the better looking piece. The wheels on the GL look killer though. I have noticed that some of JL's newer castings are on the smaller side. The '69 Camaro convertible is a good example.....and another great casting.

I would guess that the Johnny is a little on the small side.. I like the Green Light one a lot.. Especially the wheels.

I'd say the JL is too small. They're more beholden to the 3 inch toy standard than Greenlight is. Look at the size of the '59 Caddy.

Bingo.

If you want to do a fair comparison shot- put the the JL Impala and '70 Mustang together, and the GL '69 Mustang and Impala together.

If the Impala is substantially bigger than the Mustang, it's...*gasps* actually in scale! A concept I was beginning to think didn't exist in diecast at a price point under $5. I'm impressed with Greenlight so far. Keep up the good work!

Well,no matter what the final answer is, both cars look great!

One of the things I always liked in the 100% HW was that they appeared to try to have cars consistent with each other in scale. I favor this approach.

The JL 69 is definately too small. If you look at some JL cars that should share bodies, you realize that not all of them are correct in scale. Look at the 68, and 70-72 Chevelles. the 68 is way bigger than the 70-72's which in 1:1 scale were the same size. The 67 JL is actually bigger than the 70-72's also and in reality should be a tad smaller. The 68 JL Chevelle is also bigger than the 69 Impala , which should be the other way 'round. If you look at the JL 67 & 66 GTO's, they are different sizes too, the 67 is larger yet the 1:1's were identical in size. Overall, not a complaint, just an observation, though I do think Greenlight has it all on scale. I am just happy to have both a 68 and 69 Impala, and to me they both look good!

One way to tell scale correctness is ... if you have the factory specs for the real Chevys - what is their length ?? Take that & divide it by 64 to come up with what the 1/64 scale should be ...

I took out one of my Jada 65 Impalas, a Jada 67 Impala, and the JL 69 and GL 68. Talk about size comparisons!! None of them are close in size! The 65 and 67 are too wide for their length, but are still longer than the JL 69. They are both shorter than the GL 68. Overall, I think the GL 68 gets the nod for closest to correct. I'll have to pull out my camera and take a picture of all 4 together.

To me, this shot shows that the car is proportioned correctly (particularly in the rear fenders). The JL looks a little bit shortened up while the GL has a nice flow to the body that is more like the rear car.
