midtown 01-19-2006, 02:55 PM Looking good! Better than JL?

madmanmark 01-19-2006, 04:02 PM They're not bad, but I hope they fix the hoods so the piece between the grilles is part of the hood and not the fascia.

That would probably be very difficult to fabricate in this scale. Wonder what other old pace cars we'll see!
TheDarkCutlass 01-19-2006, 08:51 PM From what i can tell by these castings (and just by pictures) the JL is better. This statement is also just by looking at a picture without one in hand... problems i see:
The hood as mentioned, JL did it, so it cant be that difficult, also it does not include the whole center piece between the grill, just in about a couple inches (on actual car) is included on the hood.
The wing HAS to be lowered!
And there just seems to be something else missing on the front (maybe just an illusing because of lack of paint too)
Show me a painted one or one i can get my hands and ill give ya a better judgement
Either way, no matter on detail... I WANT ONE!

Something just looks off in the front, and I think the comments above hit the nail on the head. the JL looks better at this point.
Lovemy71Camaro 01-19-2006, 09:54 PM I don't think they look too bad as is.. Hopefully they'll fix the inaccurate areas on the production casting.
glhshelby 01-19-2006, 10:01 PM they`re just to big IMO,I`ll wait until I see these in a store .Then I may collect them but I`m not positive after seeing the pics of how big they are.

How can they possibly look too big? Theres nothing in the picture to compare them to.

I believe he is referrign to the other posts which compared these GL to JL castings which the GL was about a 1/2 an inch larger.
I for one am not one that concerns about size, primerely detail (and the rocket logo on the front)
So even if these are abit larger, i'd still buy them myself, but some people are very particulate on the sizes they collect.
I don't necessarily think they are all that big. I have three of the GL Mustangs and they are very close in size to the JL's.
Dead Dude 01-19-2006, 10:14 PM These cars are not too big, they're just more accurate in size.
Mustangs and Camaros are smaller cars than GTOs, Impalas are even larger. And thats reflected in the size of the casting.

in another thread he`s showing pics of the mustangs together.I`ll wait to see one on person before ruling them out.
Dead Dude 01-19-2006, 11:24 PM The Mustang in the BOSSes thread is smaller than the others if anything else.
Lovemy71Camaro 01-19-2006, 11:37 PM I don't mind if they are a little on the large size so long as they are well made.. That was on thing I had/have a problem with on the native RC2 castings, they just look cheap to me.. Green Light on the other hand, so far looks very nice IMO..

I just went to joesdiecast site and I like the wheels ,tires, and the packaging. I may actually order me a case when series 3 is releashed depending on how many mopars are in it.
Atencio 01-20-2006, 01:06 AM The GL Boss Mustang is a tad smaller than the JL Boss.
The GL GTO is a tad bigger than the JL GTO.
The Camaros look pretty darn close, the GL maybe a hairsbreath longer.
The GL Impala is long, a bit longer than a Jada one I have which leads me to believe that GL is trying to make their cars at least in this series to be in scale with each other. I like that. Honestly, I don't see how anyone who loves JL cars could not help love these cars. They are both winners.

In scale with one another! Finally, a diecast manufacturer who listens! An Impala is supposed to dwarf a Mustang!
I'm excited about these cars!!!!
I think the 'lacking' part of the front of the 442 is the grill lines- appears to be just a gap there. looks like the grill may be tampoed on?

On the 72 yes, does appear that way. Also just appears that the roof sits a little to high, or the windshield isnt slopped back enough.
One thing (which i am sure they will have fixed by production time) is the fitment of the hood.
Other than that, still a better casting that HW's and the RC one :p
triple20 01-21-2006, 09:52 AM I am very excited about another olds to collect for sure but for some reason these just don't look right in the pic so I'll reserve judgement until I have them in hand...sometimes pics can be decieving.
When I realized GL had an olds coming in the line up I decided to buy into the line of muscle car garage GL's and ordered a set...waiting for them to arrive now.

I think the Holiday Coupe had a higher roof?

TheDarkCutlass 01-21-2006, 10:36 PM Hurmf, im looking and searching and i can not find hard facts about the difference between the holiday and the sport coupe. The middle car is a Cutlass Supreme whilst the upper and bottom cars are Cutlass S. (can tell by the "notch-back") But no matter how hard a search, nothing tells me the difference between the 2, some say has to do with the "posts", others say has to do with vinyl top. Although the stats between the holiday coupe and the sport coupe have the same headroom dimensions.
If anyone has feedback on this i would love to hear it cuz its got me stumped
triple20 01-22-2006, 10:21 AM According to a Year One parts book I have, back then GM was having a confusing time trying to figure out what to call their models and it was different between the divisions,as an example...what chevy called a "sport sedan",pontiac called a "4 door hardtop".
Here's how Year One breaks down oldsmobile cutlass,
series 87 holiday coupe(cutlass S)...2 door car with no permanment post behind the door glass and in front of the quarter window.
series 57 supreme holiday coupe(supreme)...same as above...no permanment post.
series 77 sport sedan...2 door car with a permanment post behind the door glass and in front of the quarter window.
series 67 convertible
hope this helps :)
