... I should NOT let my 7 year-old son see that site! Otherwise my Preiser figures would soon be replaced with crowds of LEGO guys and I donīt want to imagine what would happen to all my Tomy cars... :p

Thanks for posting this link!

Excellent movie, with Deep Purple "Speed King" tune in the background

And yes, surprised how well they handle on track

A few years ago Lego were looking at getting into slot cars.

Nice idea, I could see the kids coming up with some hugeass retarded looking multi colored van with wings to run.lol
Cool movie, where in the heck do you find stuff like that?

This was actually a thread I saw while looking at another Newsgroup/fan site I normally read through for fans of Lego called www.Lugnet.com
It was in the lego train threads

I guess the only things is to be careful with the Legos near the slots, otherwise smoke/burning might ensue :-)

When Lego were looking into it, the plan was to use conventional F1 slot cars and make a series of buildings, brigdes, burger vans, shops etc for it.

I think the planned scale was 1/43rd with shrunk down lego people to match, but the Ferrari deal cost so much money the whole thing got put on the back burner.

Tamiya also had a slot car design on the board, HO this time, but I have been unable to find out what happened with it....

Looks like a lot of fun! That gallery sure takes a beating. I actually like the design of the pit area. I need to redo my pit area and I don't have much space. The way that this is set back is a good idea.

That's very cool!

I would like to set up a layout somewhat like that, but with the regular HO trains and Tyco slotcar track.

Thanks for the link

Am I seeing right? Are there spectator bleachers right off the 3" radius hairpin?

I bet that gets messy...

BTW, the whole idea is WAY cool in general. I think I gotta have my kids drag the Lego bucket out from wherever they have it stashed...

Those are the cheap seats, I guess...
The pit area is actually a Lego set that was made called the victory lap raceway.
As for what the guy did, here is a link that might help with any prep
Id say the worst thing to watch for is overheating the plastic, I have not tried this yet, but Im seriously thinking about..I wouldn't want to see that guys electric bill with the Lego trains running in the background :-)

If you watch the film and know the Deep Purple musictrack behind, you'll admire the synchronism of the car crash in that hairpin and the mad laughing guy in the music LOL
