View Full Version : 1/24 Greenlights
DiecastPatty 01-18-2006, 02:54 PM  I'm new to forum. Saw a post via The Diecast Pub and here I am. I am most looking forward to the 1/24 lineup at Greenlight since I'm a 1/24 collector and reviewer. I also collect 1/64 and some 1/18.
Anyone here excited about the forthcoming 1/24s at Greenlight? Hopefully, I'll be able to supply some 1/24 reviews of Greenlight Collectibles.
I look forward to future posts.

madmanmark 01-18-2006, 04:42 PM Hi, Diecast Patty! Welcome to the board! It's nice to see someone else here who shares my 1/24 fetish. Have fun and post often!
mn_dodgeboy 01-18-2006, 06:38 PM Welcome. I am new here also. I love all scales, but mostly 1:64, 1:24 and 1:18. I don't do pro-reviews or anything, but I do rate my models based on quality, fit and finish, accuracy etc.
spencer1984 01-20-2006, 10:05 AM Hi guys, I'm new here too (first post in the diecast section). I'm another who sticks with 1/24 - it's nice to see other diecast collectors who want to see more in that scale.

DiecastPatty 01-29-2006, 11:08 PM I will have to split up the review and pics because I think I can only post several pics at time....In any case, hope you enjoy it. Greenlight has done a marvelous job on these Vettes!
REVIEW by Patty Henderson
If you love Corvettes and or Limited Edition runs, then take a look at what Greenlight Collectibles is doing in the 1/24 field. Greenlight got its start in the 1/18 segment by issuing IRL, Indianapolis Racing League, models. But guess what, Greenlight Collectibles is all grown up now and they’ve got their hands in every scale. Their 1/64 miniatures are causing a firestorm of interest and now they’ve got their sights set on 1/24. And what better marquee to grab interest with than….Corvette, of course. The all American sweetheart sports car. And guess what, Corvette freaks, each model is a Limited Edition! That’s right, both the standard Corvettes and the Pace Cars are being produced in limited runs. Once these are gone, that’s it. That is an extremely bold and unheralded concept in budget models. The production runs are actually smaller than some of the DM and FM limited editions! Their packaging comes across as professional and colorful. There are screw mounts, but there is some outstanding graphics on the box and protective plastic holding the model safe.

Greenlight Collectibles is working with all new molds and the detail is apparent in these new Corvettes. Available so far in their Corvette lineup are a 2005 Corvette Convertible C6 in Jet Black and 2005 Corvette C6 Coupe in Red. In their Pace Car line-up, they’ve got the stunning 2005 Corvette C6 Red Indy Pace Convertible as well as the 2005 Daytona 500 Corvette C6 Coupe. Both of these are resplendent with all the accurate Pace car decals and interior emblems.

The quality and fit of these budget models are superior to others producing in the 1/24 scale. These Greenlight Collectibles look like shiny diamonds next to any 1/24 Maisto, CMW, MotorMax or any others. I was simply dazzled at the glossy, deep Black finish on the Convertible. It rivals the paint job on some of the Mint cars! And yes, look closely at the front wheels of these Corvettes….You can actually see the word “Corvette” in the brakes! Amazing for this price range model. A peek into the interior will make your mouth water. The seats are soft vinyl and the backs move forward. Instrumentation is on the mark and the detail on the console and dash is surprisingly accurate and sharp. My only quibble with the interior is with the coupe. If Greenlight can go the extra mile and finish off the interior roof in their coupes and also add some carpeting (sadly missing on these models, but hey, they are budget), I predict that Greenlight Collectibles can become a darling in the 1/24 collecting circles.
REVIEW CONTINUES IN NEXT POST....
DiecastPatty 01-29-2006, 11:14 PM The stance and body lines are spot on. Front end spoilers and tail pipes that are actually drilled hollow! The lights are all plastic and nothing is painted on. The interior seats of the Pace Cars all have the authentic Pace Car emblems. Again, if Greenlight wanted to push the envelope and play with the big boys, they could have added some seat belts. But for this price range, the modders can have fun and add their own seat belts!

The only other disappointment was the engine compartment. Granted, most other budget 1/24 don’t do much with their engine detailing, but with everything else so outstanding on these Greenlight Corvettes, I would have loved to have seen just a teeny bit more attention paid to the engine bay.
For Greenlight Collectibles, these Corvettes are bold steps into a bright future for 1/24 collectors. For Corvette collectors and Limited Editions collectors, these little gems are a good fit in your display cabinet. They look awesome. For budget 1/24 collectors wanting a bit of the Corvette action but don’t want to plop big money into high end Vettes, these are your shining stars. Greenlight Collectibles are gearing up more Corvettes in 1/24. They have the 1995 Corvette Pace Car and the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible. What a treat. They are also planning a 1969 Camaro Convertible and Pace Car. Apparently, they also have some mighty fine Mustangs rearing to go in 1/18 as well. Gotta catch the Greenlight. They have a great web site at: www.greenlighttoys.com and you can get a chance to check out their pre-production clay models.
