View Full Version : Anybody have a good source for fasteners??
I'm looking for a good online source for screws, nuts, and whatnot. Where do people get those aluminum things that are like washers, but they fit a flathead screw?? A lot of them are anodized different colors. What are those called?
Thanks!

Hillbilly W/RC 01-18-2006, 10:23 AM OK since we are on this subject I have tried 3 times to replace the nylon nuts on the front axles on the l4 I would like to have lock nuts to replace with but I can't find the right size thread or what ever, either way I haven't been able to replace them yet.
davepull 01-19-2006, 12:32 AM i think they are 5-40
Hurricane Racer 01-19-2006, 12:41 AM How about 4-40 nylon screws for the servo tabs? Anyone know where to find some?

racer34v 01-19-2006, 06:52 AM www.mcmaster.com also a good screw source, i replace the screws in my car in high use areas with torex (6point star) they have more contact and hold up longer in my opinion.

Gee, I thought I was the only one in the world that thought those Torx fasteners were worth buying (they are kind of expensive...).
wiscentral52 01-19-2006, 08:42 PM Racers edge sells those washers that fit under countersunk screws. They come in a ton of colors too.
fastener express looks like they're pretty hard to beat. I didn't think these little bolts and nuts were so expensive!! It doesn't help that most of the fasteners are in a box of 100.
Carpet Assasin 01-22-2006, 09:55 PM Where on Fastener's site do you find the 4-40 screws. All they say is 3mm or 4mm???
Thanks

The nylon nuts are lousy for front axles so I switched to steel lock nuts. Associated sells them 4 to a pack for real cheap. They are originally packaged to be diff nuts for dirt buggies. And yes thay are 5-40. I was trying to find them for the longest time and them I found them at a local track. Hope that helps.
