View Full Version : California Paved Oval Championship Series
mike3245 01-18-2006, 03:41 AM Just thought I would pass this along to anyone in California that has an oval car sitting around doing nothing. There is a brand new series to run for paved oval!!!........... It is called the California Paved Oval Championship Series and it is being promoted by none other than Jimmy Babcock himself. It is an 8 race series with two throw-out races. The tracks are Racers Haven in Bakersfield, HotRod Hobbies in Saugus, SoCal RC Raceway in Huntington Beach, Racers Oasis in Kingsburg, and Ventura Roadrunners in Camarillo, Ca.. It should be a TON of fun!!! You can check out the flyer on Racers Haven's webpage at www.racers-haven.com and go to races/events/CPOCS and you can see the schedule for yourself........... Hoping for a big turnout!!!!!!!!!
:) ;) :dude:

mike3245 01-27-2006, 08:53 PM I'm not going to make the first race at Kingsburg, I do plan on making the rest of the races for the series. This series sounds fun..........
I hope to see everyone out there..............................
mike3245 02-01-2006, 12:40 AM just a little bump....................  :freak: :dude: :)
uspancarchamps 02-01-2006, 12:57 AM With the CPOCS race March 4 the USPCC race at HRH Feb 24-26 is a great chance to get a race in at that track before then.

mike3245 02-01-2006, 06:44 PM sounds good!! This will work great for extra track time for those planning on running the Pan Car Champs............
Milky 02-01-2006, 06:50 PM Yea and for people who always miss practice on race day, Mike.
uspancarchamps 02-01-2006, 06:53 PM sounds good!! This will work great for extra track time for those planning on running the Pan Car Champs............
I don't know if that was a knock on me, but with my race coming before the CPOCS racee Id expect it would work the other way around with folks using my race to get ready for the CPOCS race the following weekend
mike3245 02-02-2006, 04:13 AM That was in no means a knock on you bud, it was a brain fart on my part. I thought your race was after, but my bad. Milky, I never fail, I will miss practice this coming Sunday also. With the better half working the graveyard shift and a 1 year old daughter to watch out for while the wife sleeps, it's kind of hard to make it for practice..... :p But it does keep it interesting for me...............lol
uspancarchamps 02-02-2006, 09:08 AM Its cool. He all have brain farts and infarctions every once in occasional
Hopefully we get a big draw from guys wanting some extra track and race time before the CPOCS round
Milky 02-05-2006, 09:34 AM HRH monthly race today. Good luck.
Milky 02-14-2006, 01:27 AM Less than a week.
chargersfan 02-14-2006, 02:13 AM Does anyone know if there will be a body height rule for the first race? I'm asking because it is on carpet and sometimes in touring car there is no body height rule for carpet...
eoval 02-14-2006, 04:24 PM I would also like to know what the rules are to this series. What classes? etc.....

Each track may run its own race on the same day. For example Kingsburg usually runs a touring car class also. Racers haven will run its spec class . As far as the rules Im not sure if they will be checking heights and stuff but I would run everything within basic Roar and Arcor type rules. I think the body height is 41/2". I dont think theres like a min. ride height or anything. They may tech motors but not sure there either.
Jimmy Babcock of Hot Rod Hobbies may have more info (661)255-2404 or
Racers Oasis(559)897-8181
As far as batteries I asume its that IP,IB 3800's and GP 3700's.
eoval 02-14-2006, 10:57 PM That information does not help much. I guess I will try contacting the tracks.
chargersfan 02-15-2006, 03:14 PM Milky - Thanks for the input! I think body height is generally 4.25" for foams... but i'm new to oval so you might be right.
JPH Racing 02-15-2006, 05:34 PM Does anyone who works at the track check this thread? If so, what time will the doors open? And, what time will racing begin?
If not ... Well, I hope they start showing an interest in their own race track soon. :)
Jake
chargersfan 02-15-2006, 06:30 PM Jake - I went here: http://www.racersoasis.net/
On one page it says doors open at 10:00 racing at 12:00
on another, doors open at 11:00 racing at 12:30.
I hope it's the latter cuz i gotta drive up from So Cal...
Dane
Milky 02-15-2006, 07:24 PM 4.25" Youre right I have the Velodrome height stuck in my head.
Yea check the Racers Oasis message board, but truthfully I havent seen them on there lately.
Chargers Fan: I leave here, Burbank, at about 6am and Im always way early. Takes about 2 1/2 hrs to get there. They usually open at 10 and then it takes them like an hour to get the track ready for practice because they run touring cars Fri. nights. The trip is well worth it Ive had a blast everytime Ive went. Hopefully they get the track ready earlier for this race. See you guys there.
chargersfan 02-19-2006, 03:38 AM hey that was a hoot and a hollar!
JPH Racing 02-19-2006, 09:59 PM How was the race guys? Where will the results be posted?
chargersfan 02-21-2006, 04:44 PM I'm wondering where the results will be posted as well...
swtour 02-22-2006, 12:20 AM Mike posted on his site that the results were given to LOU...so WHO knows where and/or when they'll show up.
I'd think MIKE would still have them in his computer too..maybe someone can twist his arm to post on His site...
I heard Dane won...then I heard Josh Smith won Expert Stock...so NOW I don't have a clue...LOL
chargersfan 02-22-2006, 02:18 PM Josh won. Dane (me) TQ'd and got 2nd. Josh stepped it up for the main. I couldn't concentrate for some reason during the main. Josh was real good though. Put a half lap on me.

Kevin Stevens 02-22-2006, 06:02 PM Sorry we didn't get this together sooner, but a forum has been started for the CPOCS series at the Racers Haven website: http://www.racers-haven.com
Results from race #1 have been posted on the forum, and we'll try to do the same for future races as well.
Please visit the website, and go to the message boards under the "news" tab and you will find a forum for the series. Information, race results and answers to your questions will be available there. If you have questions, please post them on the Racers Haven forum and we'll try to answer them for you. As always, for answers related to an individual race track, please telephone the hobby shop/race track using the phone number listed on the series flyer (flyer can be viewed on the Racers Haven home page)
Race #2 for the series will be held at Hot Rod Hobbies on Saturday March 4th.
Milky 02-22-2006, 07:43 PM I missed a great race, I thought I would get caught on the wrong side of the Grapevine so I stayed home and watched the Busch race.
Did they really go 70 laps in stock?

Kevin Stevens 06-07-2006, 04:51 PM What time will track be open for practice friday .......Thanks Jeff Helms .....Coming over from Cave Creek Az..... Thanks
I assume you are asking about the SoCal race on 6/17...The schedule has the doors opening at 7AM. There will probably be some time needed for basic track prep, and I would expect the track to be available for practice around 7:30 and no later than 8AM. Practice will run until 9:30-9:45 with the first qualifying heat starting at 10AM. Signups will be taken at the track until around 9:30. $20 for first class, $15 for each additional class. This should be a great event.
Humpty 06-07-2006, 07:12 PM Yes Kevin ..Sorry About that...So nopractice friday......See ya Saturday ...
Kevin Stevens 06-08-2006, 03:05 AM They show on their schedule that they have Offroad/Onroad practice from 12:00 to 5:00 on Fridays, so I doubt that you would be able to get on the track until Saturday morning. Hope to see you there.
Humpty 06-08-2006, 11:22 AM Thats Cool ....Will be there first thing Saturday....
