Thanks Richard

sounds strange but you add more gear, larger pinion.

Wow. Ok. but in open mod you would gear down??? (smaller pinion)

Really, How much? For example say I,m running a 33 pinion 104 spur and 2.25 tires which equals a 2.24 rollout in stock. How much of a change?

I found this over here.
http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=119093&page=58&pp=15
Witch tells me gear up around 4 teeth. but I really don't know

"there was no real formula I was just giving some ball park guidelines this way if you travel around you can get close. There are a lot of factors in determining a correct rollout. If you run outside you have to worry about temperatures. Also how sweeping or tight the turns are, banked vs flat track, asphalt vs concrete vs carpet, how bound up or free the car is are just some things that come into play.

190' - 2.25
180' - 2.15
170' - 2.10
160' - 2.05
150' - 2.00
140' - 1.95
130' - 1.90
120' - 1.85
Go up about .25-.30 points for an Epic 19T
about .40 point or more for a Ti 19T

For instance on our apshalt track with a runline of 268' you would think you would need to run about a 2.60 rollout but it wont work, Most run between a 2.25-2.35. Many factors play into this asphalt surface, warm temps outside, long sweeping turn so you are in the turn for a long time puts the motor under more stress."

Lee if you are running that gear at HW in stock you would have to add 7 teeth to it to run what the top 19t guys run.

We run a 2.20-2.30 in stock at Classic and most run Epic D5 19T's in the 2.50-2.60 range

I'm currently running 5 cell 19 turn at my track and was going to switch to 4 cell stock. My gear now is 31/104. What should I change my gear too for 4 cell stock?
Thanks

carpet. We currently do not have a 4 cell stock class. 19 turn record is 62 laps in 4 minutes.

So many variables...
24 or 36 degree's, 2 or 4 magnet, Ultra bird (FB-6 magnet), Chameleon (sp?) Anything goes??? Lot's of things to consider here, but in general, EROCK1331 is speaking of a ARCOR motor, and I concur.
