Last time I tried that, the car weighed so much, I burned up the motor!Of course,I only used T-Jets! Yours look pretty cool.

You'd be surpirsed how well they run. I try to make the body's as light as possible by dremeling away any and all extra weight. Hot Wheels recently has been putting cars with plastic bodies too. Other companies are using a lighter grade of steel as well, like Racing Champions.

With a JL tuff one chassis, they go fast enough to remain interesting. They easily go fast enough to fly off the track of you're not careful. On some cars I may use a AFX speciality chassis, I've also used a few Tomy Turbos chassis too. You're nopt going to win any races, but they're still fun to kake and to run. The "lost in Space" buggy is all plastic, mounted onto a Tyco MAXX TRAXX chassis. That baby FLIES!

Looks really good... I love the Starsky Torino , the '49 Merc' and the VW pickup....

I have three die-cast conversions in my collection, the'yre not the fastest of my cars but truly cool to drive

Have you tried making a Drag-u-la? I think that would be a cool slot car!!

Cool stuff VJ. Nicely done. I always like the oddball stuff. Partrige bus, Munster mobile, etc... and that 4 wheel drive chassis, that's cool. :)

Great stuff Jimmy.

That four wheel drive chassis is ingenious. Very simple and clean merger of the two drive mechanisms. Does it produce any significant results positvie or negative?

Some of the cars are very cool looking. I have done a couple of die cast conversions. Lots of dremel work. One slip and carve into something you didn't want to!
Bossman would like that hopped up taxi!

Great Work Jim,

Any chance of a few more picks of the dual drive chassis? I love to do old F1 cars and I can see a Williams 6 wheel car in the future, but I have the enginering skills of a gnat...

Yes, Jim- I do like the taxi as so, the others—but not for the same reasons posted here.
I like the “look” of all these die-casts as much as the ones’ sitting in my DC display cases. They basically look the same.

My small and decrepit brain does not allow for DC conversions.:freak:

My adage is:
DC’s are for admiring—plastic (and resins) is for running.

Easy now, Jimmy-- as you did ask for opinions…;)

I‘ve made only one DC conversion. It was a 440 Taurus police car.
It ran slow, handled poorly, and over-heated. That was enough for me.

Now, the four-wheel drive conversion is something completely different!
I really like that. Very ingenious!

I would like to see more close-up pics of that myself.

Cheers..

Thanks guys, like I said... these cars are not for racing, but they do go fast enough to remain interesting (which means they're fast enough to fly off the track). Thankfully, I haven't had the over heating problems. Plus, some of them are actually plastic bodies, like the "Drag Cabs" They're custom painted, plastic HOT WHEELS bodies sitting on AFX speciality chassis. I've noticed that HOT WHEELS is putting out more of their die cars, with plastic bodies.

As for the 4 wheel drive chassis... it's two Marchons joined together.. I'll post a close up of the rear end assemebly this week. It's runs about as fast as a regular Marchon chassis. Very easy to make. I'm working a true 4 wheel drive chassis, that I'll also post when I'm done.

I'll be posting more of my card over the nest few weeks, I;m on a roll lately.

Thanks for the input and comments.

Keep it in the groove!

I have one of those myself, they're pretty cool. I'm wroking on a 4 wheel drive chassis that uses two can motors
