I've heard mention of a Thunder Slick brand tire called a Thundergripper. I don't see it on the TS site. Is this a pretty new item and has anyone ever tried them?? thanks...dave

View Full Version : Anyone ever try/hear of Thundergrippers? tjd241 01-08-2006, 11:43 PM I've heard mention of a Thunder Slick brand tire called a Thundergripper. I don't see it on the TS site. Is this a pretty new item and has anyone ever tried them?? thanks...dave tjettim 01-09-2006, 05:33 AM No,but we race a lot of tjets and the silicone coated sponge tjetires from Wizzard are working real good. Get .350 diameter for stock crowns or.340 if you have one of the small dia. aftermarket crown gears. tjd241 01-09-2006, 09:28 AM Those sound very effective, but for the race rules I'm preparing for there is a restriction to skinny slip ons. I was looking to see if these "Thundergrippers" are perhaps a new twist on the skinny tire lineup. Any input on these will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Tim. dave dlw 01-09-2006, 12:00 PM Aren't ThunderGrippers the skinny version of the one-piece wheels? ParkRNDL 01-09-2006, 12:36 PM If I'm not mistaken, ThunderGrippers are silicones that fit on original Tjet skinny wheels, but are as wide as the whole wheel including the flange. The inside of the inner edge of the tire is recessed so it fits over the flange, and you get that extra little bit between the chassis and the "standard" skinny silicone in contact with the track... anybody wanna confirm this? --rick vaBcHRog 01-09-2006, 01:37 PM Rick hit the nail on the head. They are made by Thunderslicks but not shown on his web site to ordder them drop Tom an email Roger Corrie tjd241 01-09-2006, 02:09 PM As usual, the HT Crew gets it done. dave vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
