I knew there was hope for all of those empty JL boxes I've been holding on to. Forty years from now I'll be cashing in on those puppies and living large. Or the local landfill will have a slightly higher plastic content.
Collectors are strange animals to begin with. Armed with a little money their behavior can and often does border on the strange and bizarre. But in all likelihood someone has an old VW that when slid into an original box can be sold for significantly more than without the box, enough so that buying the box for what looks like a rediculous price is still a cost effective investment. But the "strange and bizarre" scenario is still in play.

What no foam piece? rr
It's all in the label. A tjet Charger's label (or any good label) would fetch a nice price, it depends on the car said collector needs a label for.
