I recently picked up a few Husky diecast cars at our local HW meeting. If I remember correctly they were made in Great Britain. There were a couple of Citroen Safari wagons a VW pickup truck with a rising scaffold//tower on the back and a few others. Does anyone know anything about these. They have some playwear but are in decent shape. I will post pics when I can. Just looking for a little information.

husky was made in the late 60s and early 70s it was part of the corgi line and became corgi juniors .the v.w. pickup sounds like what was called a luggage truck it had a little conveyor belt the truck i have is white with a red and blue
rack and i paid 10.00 for mine a few years ago in mint condition
the citreon safari i paid 25.00 mint in original blisterpack at the same time .
i bought them from a dealer that i deal with who deals in corgi and lesney cars that being said i also buy beaters from him and nothing in the husky line is less than 3 or 4 dollars from the guy i buy them from and i think he is quite reasonable i have picked up these little cars at garage sales for 50cents but they are pretty scarce . the only example i have right now is a bedford skip truck i paid 3.00 for and did a repaint if this truck was mint in a blisterpack it would go in the 25.00 range but like hotwheels it depends on how hard they are to come by and how many people like them and will pay that kind of money .there arent a lot of people who collect these cars so the demand is small ,thats why i collect them there different and still reasonable

I have the VW tower truck - Its in rough shape and part of the tower is missing. There was also a VW Conveyor Truck. It had a rubberband conveyor belt on top. I understand the one with the yellow rubberband is the rarer and the one with the blue(?) rubberband is the more common. I have a Mint one in a rough blister with the yellow band. I've asked a million times and have never got a value on it.

I'm over there on occasion too. I think there is a section on Huskies. There are a few web sites too.

These are the only Husky toys that I have in my collection. As with Budgie, I may add a few more to augment my 60s Matchbox collection.

I bought the Tanker and Ford Telephone Truck at a local flea market last summer. One of my neighbors had the Telephone Truck when I was little, it had an intriguing shape but it was already probably a discontinued model.

I got this Ford Camper at another regional flea market a couple years ago.

I also bought this gold-tone Mk Ten at yet another local flea market, a good deal.

A collector sent me two of these VW Belt Loaders to use with my planes ...

I bought this quarry truck for just a buck in an antique shop in the Catskills. It's one of those that had a paper label on the base plate, which is now gone. These paper labels were affixed to the toys during the period that the name was changing from "Husky" to "Corgi."

I was on the Husky kick a few years back and bought hundreds of them (I go into these bizarre cycles where I focus very heavily on one brand until I have enough - or until my wife has had enough - and move to another brand I don't have).
In any event, Huskys were the old dimestores answer to the higher end retail stores having Matchbox cars. Huskies were always looked up on as less than Matchbox quality (like plastic bases on most cars) and therefore sold for a much cheaper price. As a kid, I remember these sold in Newberries and Woolworths.
Actually they were quite nice castings and offered an excellent variety.
Years later as Tone posted, the company became Corgi (or Corgi bought them up - I have a book on Corgi/Husky that explains this) and soon you would find Huskies with a Corgi decal on the base).
At about this time, the dimestores dropped Huskies and replaced them with much cheaper made Chinese made Playarts (don't get me started on these as they are a huge favorite of mine - again at the ire of the Mrs!).

They're great...a million memories! I'm hoping to find the Zephyr Estate in red. Not encountered often.

Nice pics everyone. The VW flatbed I have is like the white one with the conveyor but has the tower on it like the white pickup. Someday I will get some good pics of these things to put on here.

I've always loved Huskys...

I have two favorites. The Zephyr Estate, and the Olds Starfire. I also have always loved the Mercedes 220 as well. I have one that I bought mint in blister some years ago...

Those are in great shape, I dont know a whole lot about husky but Husky became Corgi in the late 60's. Husky was only husky for a year or two then became corgi
