View Full Version : Best "no"
Babaganoosh 01-01-2006, 12:25 AM Captain Picard to Lily in Star Trek: First Contact
"Jean-Luc, blow up the damn ship!"
"Noo! NOOOOO!"
or
Darth Vader in response to Padme's death
"Nooooooooo"
bugs bunny 01-01-2006, 01:09 AM I think both were overacted and kinda unnecessary. I believed Patrick's "NOOOO" more because it sorta fit the mood and situation better, but when Vader said it, I was like "What was that?" Vader doesn't say "NOOOOOOOOO".
He instead uses the Force to express his "pissed offness". It wasn't the usual sinister Vader we are all familiar with.
Well I guess one would argue that the reason for that unnecessary "NOOOOO" was he was still "evil in training" and as time goes by the darkside of the force consumed more and more of him leaving him cold and relatively emotionless.
Or Lucas just sucks as a director. ;)

Your answer lies in episodes 1,2 and 3.
SteveR 01-01-2006, 02:32 AM I kinda liked Luke's reaction ("that's impossible!") in Empire Strikes Back.
As for young Darth in Ep III, I think he should have been screaming in anguish (at the news of Padme) as they lowered the mask over his head, thus trapping him forever in his state of pain. Metaphorically.
And we would have seen some of his face as he screamed.
razorwyre1 01-01-2006, 09:16 AM my favorite "no" is in mel brook's silent movie. its the only spoken word in the entire film, and the line is deliverd by marcel marceau.
John P 01-01-2006, 09:49 AM Ka D'Argo's "nooooo" when John and Aeryn were particalized in the last episode of Farscape was one of the few that actually felt like it had real emotion behind it.
Vader's "Noooo" was pathetic, cliche, and completely out of character.
MartinHatfield 01-01-2006, 11:15 AM I always liked Jafar's "NOOOOooooo!" in Aladdin when he realizes that he doesn't have the magic lamp in his pocket.
terryr 01-01-2006, 11:53 AM Leias' 'no' when they are going to blast her planet is simple but heartfelt.
JGG1701 01-01-2006, 12:41 PM I forgot which eps. it was but in The Incredible Hulk where David Banner (Bixby) starts to transform into the Hulk , he shouts out a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
El Gato 01-01-2006, 08:41 PM Any "NOOooooooooooo" on the Simpsons. :)
Personally, I'm more of a "WHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyy" enthusiast.

trevanian 01-01-2006, 08:56 PM haven't seen & probably won't ever see SITH, but Stewart's no is one of the big laughs I get from FC. When the guy goes broad or big, it just doesn't ever work for me, he HAS to stay low for any measure of credibility (which is why I think his best trek work is playing the YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE Picard, a universe I'd actually ENJOY seeing the 24th century take place in for a series.)
On the other hand, Shatner's 'no' when Spock dies in TWOK is great. Almost makes up for the terrible 'klingon bastards you've killed my son' speech that helps keep SFS such a stinkfest.
ChrisW 01-03-2006, 02:06 PM I kind of like the CapitalOne commercials...
Ohio_Southpaw 01-03-2006, 02:18 PM I've always felt the ending of STII would have been even better had they cut back to Khan just as Enterprise went into warp in the split second before Reliant explodes and have Kahn scream NOOOOOOOO! with the final realization that Kirk had escaped him again and forever.

SWEET idea! Had this been a Lucas movie, he sure would have altered it to have the "NOOOOOO" by the end.
jage1966 01-03-2006, 10:03 PM Speaking of Kahn..... How about Madeline Kahn in History of the World Pt. 1 as she picks out her man-servants, singing: "No...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, YES, no, no, no, no, no, no, YES, no, no, YES."
