What is everyone's preference for on-center vs. off-set rear pods? Please discuss for:

paved tracks
carpet tracks
flat tracks
banked tracks
stock class
19T class
Mod class
Etc.

Thanks!

I run stock banked carpet and I use the center straight up pod on my car. Next:

You can run either way you just have to compensate somewhere else in your set up.This is another one of those personal preference things.

In most cases it comes down to preference.. i have seen some tracks that just are not fast centered up.. My home track is one of them its a 365 runline banked asphalt..( www.triclone.net (http://www.triclone.net/) ) Cap tires..

paved tracks I always run offset on banked tracks in stock..

carpet tracks i have messed with centered this year but generally offset works best for me..

carpet
banked tracks Ive only run once on banked carpet.. I started centered and ended up offset..

I have ended up with offset more times than not,and at BMS I was thinking that everybody was running straight up but then I hear a few of the pretty fast guys were running offset.I've had people tell me that you've got to run one way or the other to be fast then find out the fastest guys are running the other way,so that 's why I say it's a personal preference thing

Along the same lines of a question...what about on the cars that allow offset T-plate. What do you find better there? Is it better offset T-plate and centered pod or centered t-plate and offset pod?

Probably a personal preference thing too, but thought I would see what opinions you have.

On banked tracks I always run straight up pod, straight up plate in stock. Seems to just free up the car. But in 19T and mod on banked, straight up plate, offset pod seems to work better for me. On flat tracks I always seem to end up on straight up plate, offset pod.

A couple examples of the preference thing:
I have seen Mario Marsilio take his straight up car with usually a short wheelbase to just about every type of track: banked carpet, BMS, Asphalt, Flat tracks, you name it and is always a threat to crack the top 5 in Mod

On the other hand Frank Peachock, will run offset pod and long wheelbase everywhere and be quick in every class from stock to 19T to Mod.

It's a personal thing. You have to run what you like. Like Eric said, take myself, Frank and Rick, all run mod at classic and we will be within 1-2 sec of each other. If you look at our cars we are TOTALLY different in the setup department. Kinda funny when you ask someone, hey, what ya running for this or that and they tell you the truth but you think its way out there!!! LOL One thing I have learned. Listen to yourself everywhere you go. Ask around for the basic setup and go from there. Do what you know! Talk about fast... Eric is a guy that has had 3-4 cars in the past 2 or so years and has won pretty much every race he has entered in. All different cars and different setups. Thanks for the props E unit. LOL

E- You need some hubcaps for the hangover???

Got a silver body with green stickers, so I might need some silver or flour green ones, but I am pretty good on other colors

I'm rather new to the pan-car oval class having run trucks exclusively for the last few years.
So, here goes; I would like to know if there is a rule of thumb for hubs when switching from centered to offset pod. Do you need to switch to a narrower left and a longer right side hub?
I noted a 2 ounce increase in left rear weight simply switching to the narrow left side hub on an offset pod. I don't have a longer right side hub... yet.
