I have 2 laptops (one on win98 one on XPsp2)and a desktop computer win XP, the two laptops are wireless through my router and the desktop is plugged into it. My laptop on win98 can share my docs with my desktop fine, my laptop on winXP doesn't even appear in MY NETWORK PLACES where you would go to access shared docs. The Laptop on winxp can access the shared internet fine, it's only the shared docs that don't work. I have had my desktop and win98 laptop sharing their documents for about a year without any trouble, but my new laptop won't even appear in MY NETWORK PLACES, and if you go into network places on the laptop you can't see the desktop. If you go to workgroup places you can see the laptop from the desktop but when you click it you get a message saying you don't have premission to access this computer. I ran the network setup disk that was made for the other two computers about a year ago, the disk worked great on them but did nothing in the new one. Can anyone help me with this problem, i saw a few other people had this same problem on hobbytalk maybe it's a common mistake? Can someone please help me correct this problem? Thankyou Kevin

Do you have a shared folder setup on the machine you can not connect to?

Right-click on that shared folder and enable file sharing.

You may have the firewall enabled on your new laptop. Shut it off or set it to allow users on the same domain to access its files.
