I aquired a honda eb3000 generator. Every since i got it, it doesnt start. It will run for a few seconds and will stop. I took the carb off and cleaned it and re assembled it and have the same problem. I put an engine compression hit and im getting a reading between 40 and 50 psi!! What should the compression be? What advice do you guys have for me to get this engine working. I took apart the head and everything seemed alright but the valves were gummed up with carbon, could that cause the problem
Thanks All

check the valve clearance per the manual if you have one, that and the valves could not be seating, may get by scrubbing behind the valves, and the seat, otherwise they need to be ground, try a little oil down the cylinder, goes up alot, rings..... if not it could be valves or head gasket. also did you soak the carb in automotive carb cleaner, and blow it out, preferablly with a can of carb cleaner then compressed air after the soaking, the carb has to be torn all the way apart to get it cleaned good.
