View Full Version : Money races are becoming the thing. 1774 12-20-2005, 09:59 PM  Seems to be a lot of money races popping up. Mr.fastman 12-25-2005, 02:14 PM Easier to carry home than a trophy. PUF19 12-25-2005, 02:18 PM I never had to dust off $.... "Frank Ulbrik" 12-25-2005, 02:25 PM $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ frank p. 12-25-2005, 02:34 PM only way to go Porksalot4L 12-25-2005, 02:38 PM yeah i agree nothing better to win then money. i give trophys to my nephews to play with. :) Kenwood 12-25-2005, 02:44 PM Yeah money race is nice depnding on how its facilitated.. Lets put it this way..Some of the BEST races ive been in have been money races>>>And without questions 2 of the worst were money races....the ability to win money can bring out ugliness in the racing.. PUF19 12-25-2005, 04:12 PM 100% Agree kenwood, but when there is respect, it is sweet! Kenwood 12-25-2005, 04:34 PM Exactly...Thats why I said>>>Some of the BEST and worst.. Just depends on the group of people you have in the event.. And just so no one is calling foul I actually WON an even that I consider to be one of the WORST.. so its not like Im playing sore loser.. Ive never been adversely affected by one...But I just watched as people got nasty over situations during a race.. I fully admit the worst one I won was due to some inconsiderate driving that led to a wreck that I was able to drive around.. I did not like winning that way...and the arguments afterwards between the 2 parties made it no fun for me to win...Even though I was not involved in the incident.. Mr.fastman 12-25-2005, 11:27 PM I guess I've been fortunate, the few money races I've attended were great, lots of clean races. Doug P JRN 12-25-2005, 11:36 PM The thing about them but when the money its gone the trophys will be there for a long time NHRCRACER 12-26-2005, 10:11 AM I'm not a big fan of money races. Tempers can flare bad enough during point series and trophy races, and adding money to the mix is more than a lot of people can handle (though, the jerks will jerks even when there is nothing on the line). I like a trophy as a memento of a good day, but I'm not in this hobby to make money. Plus, it would take a whole lot of Money Race wins for any of us to even break even for what we spend in a month on RC. I bet advertising a race as a money race helps with turn outs, but I think it will hurt participation in the long run. MURDOCKRC 12-26-2005, 10:24 AM Money races are the worst thing you can do to R/C Racing. I have seen those turn best friends into worst enemies. Money seems to change the approach to much verses a trophy "Frank Ulbrik" 12-26-2005, 01:08 PM Maybe money purses for Mod classes.....trophys for all other classes???? Porksalot4L 12-26-2005, 01:46 PM i think money races are great. just make it so anyone that causes a problem durin them should get penalized and kicked out. i dont see why one bad racer should ruin it for others. joe ivo kyoshorunner 12-26-2005, 02:55 PM Tempers get bad enough during regular racing, add money prizes and you add gasoline to a volatile situation. You get people cheating when there is nothing on the line, adding money will just give them the incentive to do more cheating. I'm not even racing right now because of some of the people I used to race with. And I can tell you that this is a bad idea. This is supposed to be a hobby and fun, not a money making venture. John The Jet 12-26-2005, 02:56 PM I've been in quite a few money races, and have found it's the most fun when the people are not budget racers. When a person see an opportunity to pay some bills, the heat is on, and things just change. I've been on the winning end of money races, and suddenly I'm a cheater, an ass, or something else, even though I won without touching anyone. I probably won't ever enter a money race again just to keep it simple. Later, Bret Go4iT 12-27-2005, 12:35 PM If you’re a track owner and want to sponsor a Big Money race, that’s fine, go ahead, I don’t care. I’ve seen too many little things get in the way of having fun at those types of races. I won’t participate in them anymore, I prefer to race for fun. Now there’s a novel idea, fun/hobby/participation. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
