We ran some open comp. 100 lap races this last week and I put together some 14-16 turn motors with Trinity Spec brushes '' for low amp draw "but we lost big time in the HP end, flat the entire run.

Should we have used 4383's or something equiv.
It takes us about 8 min to run this race and some of our competitors motor temps were way over 200 degree's , one even melted the solder on his motor tabs.
WHATS THE HOT SET UP FOR MODIFIED HP / EFFICIENCY !!

THANKS

You should have been able to do an 8 min race with a 9 or a 10 with some harder brushes, I would have used 729 Quasars, reedy brushes, to make a 9 more effecient. With Decent 3800's, it should have been no problem. Just try to keep the amp draw under 7 or 8 amps at 1.5 volts with a fan.

If you used a checkpoint can setup that would have help in the power and and runtime department. Used the Infinty brush with copper springs and less then 5 degrees of timing. If the car is working good an 9 would be no problem.

Putnam x's ,trinity 4383 or xxx's seem to be the popular choices
