View Full Version : Would you ever dismantle a chase car for wheels?
BOOGIEVANMAN 12-15-2005, 02:01 PM Just wondering I'm running out of wheels to use and have some T-hunts that no one seems to want so I was thinking of cracking em ? What do you guys think. I also tried the
goecities website to order and the email was sent back.
Anyone have any luck with them? Please someone let me know. I'm having too much fun making my own rides.
kadman 12-15-2005, 02:10 PM what kind of wheels ya lookin for
YellowBronc 12-15-2005, 02:13 PM I've done it to a white before for the wheels (its was a WC HHR). I snagged it for $4 and since I didnt care for the casting I took the white rubber tires and wheels off. I could see where some of the HW's guys wouldnt be happy with hunts being taken apart, but who cares. What kind of wheels do ya need? Plastic or RR's? I found an extra set of the 20mm JL wheels, and I can probably come up with some rw tires too. The only way I wouldnt take apart a chase car would be if I spent more than retail on it.
midtown 12-15-2005, 03:44 PM what kind of wheels do you need? I might have something similar?
Also, remind me to send your Massachusetts car! I have a horrible memory.
BOOGIEVANMAN 12-15-2005, 04:24 PM I just want some decent wheels, most of the customs I'm doing are HW or MB cheap cars that need a little TLC.
I havin no luck finding anytin.
I'd prefer RR but would take something than those
godawful HW's
BigJohn's chevy 12-15-2005, 08:37 PM I have some wheels I could send you white lettering rubber wheels and rims etc. and some hard plastic 5 star chromes and maybe even some cragars.

you would cry if i told you all of the cars ive cracked open. the cost!!! exspencive...the smile on someones face !!! ,,,,priceless....
accobra64 12-18-2005, 01:03 AM I have taken the wheels and tires off a couple of WLs to make something special for
someone else. I have also taken the wheels off a few THs. They are/were mine.
If they cost only retail and I bought them, then it doesn't matter what I do with them.
If I decide to make a special custom with certain tires/wheels it's o'kay.
Gunn, I am sure that a lot of collectors would cry or at least be horrified at some of
the castings that you have cannibized in the past.
Bottom line is the fact that they are yours to do what you please with them.
I can well imagine the looks of disbelief that you would get from many collectors.
Cheers. Cobra

After seeing your work on your customs, I do not see any problems with taking apart a treasure hunter if the parts are needed to make a custom job up. All this means is the remaining ones now are that much more rare lol!!!!!!!!!

CadillacPat 12-30-2005, 02:16 AM ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Nothing is sacred!!!!!
Parts are parts!!!!!
I've purchased $30 Real rider VW Buses just for the tires.
By all means, rob one car to build another one better!!!!!!
