View Full Version : LRP Pulsar Competition- is your faded?

Here's a unique situation that I'm trying to make the best of.

I have an LRP Pulsar comp (original not 2) that has recently failed on me. The backlight powers up nicely and instead of any menu it gives me this:

:o... well not that face but this : o

It's turned upright so the eyes are on top and the "oh" mouth is below. Almost funny that my charger is making fun of me while it's broke. lol

Anyway, here's my thoughts as I wait for Jason at LRP to call me back on repair. (website says between 30-150 to repair.. no gray area there)

If I don't get a difinitive answer on repair is there anyone that would be interested in the case for their LRP as this one is in pristine shape. An odd question I know but I've read that some have bad backlights and some have been faded for whatever reason.

Obviously if anyone has had this problem with their charger and found a fix I'd love to know that as well. (it's not the fuse)

Thanks all for looking.

Well, the case on mine is faded & the back light doesn't work 98% of the time. Have no Idea why it faded.

I've heard of that quite often. That's the main reason I posted this. If it's a rediculous price to fix this thing it will be on it's way to the garbage. If someone wanted it for "parts" it may be worth something to someone else.

it's getting very close. I'm not very happy with LRP's customer service as my return phone call hasn't happened and no reply to my emails. I've already purchased a second ICE charger so I don't need this charger. It did serve me well for about 2 years but not well enough to send it in to LRP with a "blank check" as I can pick a used one up for 80 or less. If I put 6 to ship to them, 7.50 to ship back, and then 50plus to repair it's probably worth it to toss it.

I just got my LRP Pulsar Comp (I) back from AE's service dept ... I too was put off by the $30-$150 repair estimate. I called and explained my problem but that didn't make any difference ... as a former repair guy myself, I understand not being able to give a firm estimate without examining the item. But I'm with you, no way would I put a bunch of money into a charger I could pick up used for $75-80. Jason assured me they wouldn't do anything major without my prior approval.

Long story short, my charger got overlooked at some point and it was over 5 weeks from when I sent it in to when I got it back. All I needed was a new "MODE" button switch ... due to the delay in getting it serviced and returned to me, they didn't charge me for the repair. So it was a 'bad news/good news' thing for me - Late but free minor repair.

direct phone to Jason @ LRP/AE is 714-850-9342 ext 123
