Welcome to the customs forum here at Hobbytalk sean29.

Not real clear as to where you are at with this project,so if possible could you give some info about the casting you wish to customize, and then we can offer you some tips.
Sounds like you are a few steps from the decaling procedure...Please give us some idea of where you are at with it.
There are a vast number of talented people/customizers that frequent this forum, and I'm sure like me they would gladly welcome and assist you.

I am looking at using a welly 1/43 scale blank police car. i am just looking at doing a plain white car with some decals. The car that i am using is already white. I have found a place that will print the decals onto waterslide decal paper for me. i am just wondering how to put the decals on. i am just starting small but someday i have to be doing a lot more painting and customizing.

thanks
Sean

OK..Thank You for the info,it sounds like you are wanting some advice about applying the waterslide decals.

Don't worry to much,we all have to start with a fairly simple beginer custom, trust me..."It may become addictive" is a fair warning LoL.

You say you're having the decals printed by someone? If they want you to properly apply thier product, they should also include some initial instructions with the decals,as I would.

Once you recieve the decal sheet(s) let me know by post here if you get some instructions with them,if not I'll give you the 5 steps I use for my decal applications. Real easy method.

I made a custom 1/64th police car using a light bar from another car. I painted the rims, did some painting on the car and got some great decals from J.B.O.T. The only advice I can give is to be creative. If you can imagine it, you can probably find a way to create it. Sometimes it takes some trial and error, but if you are able to create what you imagine, it is well worth it.
As far as decals go, the best way to learn is to practice. As Jeff said, the manufacturer should give you some instructions.
BTW, if interested, you can see some pics of my finished car in the other post on this board about the custom decals. It is on the second page.
Good luck.
