Sorry for any redundancy in the question, but did I hear something about Lucas and his minions putting out yet another boxed set of SW movies?

There was a thread somewhere a few months back that indicated that GL had added small snippets, scenes, "fixed effects" etc. in all six films and that they'd be coming out towards the end of the year.

Was this real?

It seems like someone chimed in and said the extra snippets were the same ones that were floating around for years before the release of the original (altered) trilogy on DVD; the listed snippets didn't materialize on that set.

There was some confusion about the original trilogy coming out in a new box set, but it's the same DVDs as last year's release with different art (and no bonus disc with "Empire of Dreams," etc.), and it was to be released this month.

I would guess the new trilogy will come out in a box set next year; we'll see whether they do a six-film box set at the same time or wait and do it later.

If you watch the bonuses in the Revenge of the Sith set you will see an altered scene for The Phantom Menace. They did go back and replace the silicone Yoda puppet with a new CG version. There will probably be many minor alterations for each film for an HD box set.

Yup Trek Ace, that's the one I was thinking of. I've got the OT on laser disc and figured I'd wait for this set before buying it on DVD. I remembered it as coming out at the end of this year but May of 2006 is fine by me too.
