View Full Version : VCS 2 Shock upgrade kit me21 12-06-2005, 05:27 PM I saw these the other day at my local hobbyshop, looked sweet, but they where all sold before i got a chance to get any, Any one have any yet and what do you think? BAR 26 12-06-2005, 05:33 PM Do you have a pic of this kit, i haven't herd of it yet. is it to make 2 center shocks or somethin? MURDOCKRC 12-06-2005, 06:09 PM VCS2 upgrade picture. Not real descriptive but as you can see they now have bladders and self bleed. Somewhat on the lines of the hpi shock theory Mr.fastman 12-06-2005, 07:55 PM OK So how do I get one? lol Kenwood 12-06-2005, 08:42 PM HMMM interesting... Id like to know as well...Who is making the kit???associated or aftermarket??? patcollins 12-06-2005, 08:50 PM It on associateds website under new products. They fit the large shocks including the offroad and TC4 shocks. MURDOCKRC 12-06-2005, 08:53 PM Im looking into getting them already guys. Stay tuned and Ill keep you up to speed when they arrive Rob @ Murdock R/C JPH Racing 12-06-2005, 08:59 PM Got them in stock and they make the ASC shock SWEET! Much easier to build and offers adjustable rebound vs. dampening ... Jake JPHRacer 12-07-2005, 05:25 AM I will run them for the first time on carpet this weekend. They make the shock much easier to build correctly. It does allow you to change the pressure build-up of the shock changing the dampening curve. It can be made to get stiffer as the shock compresses and will therfore rebound faster. IMO the ASC shocks have allways been much smoother then the hpi shock and with the right o-rings and shaft are just as smooth as the tamiya's. But are much harder to build correctly. This kit will make building smooth associated shocks very painless. Jake has them in stock. JPHRacing.com you might have to e-mail him, not sure if they are on the site. Dave AE shocks as smooth as tamiya? molded piston and reg annodizing vs machined and fluorine? wow man you're crazy. seems to me that they basically copied the HPI shock, cept went with different upper foam. In the end, IMO, HPI wins over tamiya and everyone else now that they have the cyclone shocks. Reason being that they have 5 different bladders and 4 different o-rings. TOTAL tuning baby! still tho props for AE for finally realizing bladders are the ticket :) JPHRacer 12-08-2005, 02:08 AM Chromed steel shaft vs. ti coated shaft. ASC has the tamiya beat there. Mine are not regular annodised shock bodies. There are much better coatings then fluroine for shocks, or so I have been told. : ) DW burbs 12-08-2005, 03:59 AM If the shock is properly built, ie proper polishing, shaping of the piston, bladder/no bladder you can make any shock killer smooth.. The only advantage to an hpi shock is the fact of how easy it is to build.. In my opinion a properly built associated is better feeling and more consistent.. the custom works cap is awesome .. i went 4 weeks without a rebuild.. stock cap is a day or so.. I never felt the tamiya shock worked that well. i didnt like the pistons.. Try some Losi shock pistons some time.. there molded killer smoth.. there is more hole options as well.. they work very nicely.. mbeach2k 03-09-2006, 08:30 PM anybody have the exploded view for assembly rcpop56 03-09-2006, 09:11 PM OK So how do I get one? lol doug, i have a kit. it does 4 shocks. havent tried 'em yet but your welcome to try one if you want. i'll hook you up on sunday. swtour 03-09-2006, 09:21 PM DW, Where are you running carpet this weekend....is the STOCKTON race back on? JPH Racing 03-09-2006, 10:12 PM SWT: Stockton is a no go ... Got the upgrade kits back in stock, for anyone needing some. www.jphracing.com (http://www.jphracing.com) burbs 03-10-2006, 04:41 AM I was thinking of getting the upgrade cap recently, but a few guys here have had problems with the shock not sealing and taking in air, as well as a few leaking.. I ended up with a CW cap wich works well to.. Just curious if anyone else seen any issues.. JPH Racing 03-10-2006, 10:52 AM We sold out the first batch very quickly, to oval and tc guys. Not one complaint about leaking or sucking air. Because of the way they build up, the new parts do change the throw of the shock, so things need to be adjusted for that. me21 03-10-2006, 11:06 AM They for sure change the feel (dampening) of the shock, But for sure don't leak or suck in air, I have never heard of that JPHRacer 03-11-2006, 02:46 AM DW, Where are you running carpet this weekend....is the STOCKTON race back on? That was in december. : ) Your a little slow on the times there Joe. I allready ran them. Made up my decision. Took them off of the car. Just not for me. DW swtour 03-11-2006, 03:03 AM WOW, I never even looked at the date...thought this was a NEW thread.
