What are the pros and cons of slider vs. solid chassis?

I think if everything else stayed the same the advantage to the slider would be the ability to move the battery in small increments.

How about the possiblity of one being easier to set up or being more forgiving in the setup? Is one better for certain type tracks (paved, carpet, banked, flat)?

The Slider would be more forgiving in the setup.Due to Flex.

Make sure to check the thickness of the chassis as well. Most companies use the same graphite for both their slider and solid cars.

I haven't build my CW Slider yet, but I feel it will be more rigid than the Solid car because the slider is about .105 thick and the solid car about .095

Slider Chassis In General Will Turn More Or Be Easier To Make Turn. I have found alot of sliders have less overall flex then some solid chassis.. the main thing is the battery brace.. that acts like a spline and stiffens the chassis on the left side up the center..

also here is a link to the search i did.. check it out many many threads asking your same question.. hope it helps..

depending on what class you run.. banked track equals solid chassis, flat track equals slider.. because the slider turns more it will help on flat tracks..

I have a feeling that in case of my car (HD 0700) The solid chassis would be stiffer. I find that my chassis is somewhat wimpy across the center section between where the servo and the shock mount is. On a high bank I think the solid chassis wouldn't flex so much. I could be wrong. Just my thoughts about it.

From a asphalt perspective the solid is way better,I had both a slider and a solid and my solid was ALWAYS faster.I now have two solids.

Personaly i like a slider better ... but i think it realy depends on your driving style and setup style....

I know a guy, lol

nah, I keep track of what's going on at a lot of tracks.
Classic is my home track.

At Sandhills when I was there at the Ovalmasters, I looked at the track record board. I talked to Mike Russell and he confirmed all the records were on a slider. For K&N I just asked Zarelli in one of our 12 PM's we send each other per day, lol

I got an excuse, I work on my stuff out in the garage and lately the high here has been about 18 degress so it gets cold out there with no heat.

I braved the elements though last night and built it.
What sucks is after I was done I brought stuff in the house to build a diff and I noticed I picked up the wrong axle/diff so I ran back outside in shorts and no jacket, got the right diff but noticed I picked up the wrong set of keys. I live in an apartment and could not get in the front door without my key. My girlfriend was at a meeting so I had to sit in my car and listen to the Kentucky game on AM for 45 minutues. Sometime I wonder about myself. Good thing the heater works on the car, lol
