We've been discussing our entire year in the off road section but thought it might be more beneficial to have our oval track listed under here where maybe we'll have more traffic. For those that don't know, RER/CR&H is located in Smethport, PA. The track has been located in the same winter location for over 12 years now. We run carpet oval on a 98' little bullring and set up a roadcourse for those that like that sort of thing too. Pit tables, electric, and food are all available for your use and needs. We try to provide a friendly environment for new racers or those that have been with us for years. The largest classes are Stock truck and 2wd stock but I was just informed last week that pancars should be perfectly happy on the track also. One bump seems to be the only disturbing factor of the track. We race on Sundays starting at 12:30 PM. The track opens for practice at 9:30. Race fees are as follows:

1st class - $8.00
2nd class - $4.00
3rd + - $2.00 each

Any questions or comments, just post away. I'll be posting weekly race results throughout the season.

For those of you that may be checking this thread out for the first time, from a racer's point of view, this is a great place to race.Don't let the new thread fool ya....Rick (Racer's Edge) has been doing this for a good many years now! It's just that we had the thread over on the off-road forum because that's what we race during the summer months! A very well groomed off-road track too I might add with a rumored dirt oval track in the works for the 2006 summer season. But anyway, back to the carpet oval......A nice, clean building at the McKean County Fairgrounds(yep, same place as the popular full size track and easy to find too!)....A fun lil' "bullring" as some of us like to call it,although I myself have raced at a number of places that were much smaller ........only (2) year old CRC Fasttrack racing carpet that is kept nice and clean......a clean restroom.....clean pit area w/ tables, chairs and even a power strip included! ...no need to lug all that stuff with you here!! Kitchen on hand serving up GREAT food, fast and friendly.....a totally glitch free AMB system w/ the transponders all in mint working condition..... (unlike some places I have been to!) and the usual carpet racing parts and supplies on hand too!

There is also roadcourse racing here too.......currently,1/12th scales and BRP's/ mini's. Overall, with the professional, well run racing program, friendly atmosphere and stiff competition it makes for a nice place to race. Check out the link on the above posting,or better yet, come race on Sundays and check it out for yourself! :)

your're right, I used Don's endbell of his monster. I had the brush hoods set on his, so I just used that. If there's that much problem, I'll build him a new one, with all the correct colors??????

Hello all... just wanted to say that it was very nice to stop in and see everyone during the trip home over thanksgiving! Glad to see that K1m and Joy are still doing the BRP thing... and it is even nicer to see that AMANDA is doing all of us girls proud and kicking some guy a$$ the Girl way!!!

Now on to my not so kind part of the segment... Chris tried to help out a friend and do some motor work... now people think Don is cheating??? Let us do some math... if Don got the motor from Chris then chances are Don only knows what Chris has told him? Because Chris is such a jerk off, I am sure that he thought it would be cool to make a bogus motor so that one of his friends could be DQ'ed for using an illegal motor... or not?!? Seen as how I have never known Chris to cheat himself while racing, why get someone else in trouble for cheating??? I guess that my real problem is why the source of the problem, being Chris and his mystery motor, was never contacted or asked about what the heck he had given Don??? Why get on Don when he had no idea what was up??? OH I KNOW, he should know what he is running, right??? He may have known exactly what he was running... but did he know that Chris didn't put the right color endbell on the motor? Did Don tear apart a motor that had just come in the mail from a friend that he trusted to build this motor? HELLO??? Rick the track runner had no clue what the motor was...

So now that I have everyone pi$$ed off at me... not that I care... I want to mention that as a PAST race supporter... Nearly every weekend in the winters... buying parts... buying lunch... buying 50/50... buying raffle tickets... and when time allowed in the summer months... It is sad that some one that would call someone a friend can also call the same friend a cheater. Not that I am surprised.............

So thanks to everyone who I have made as my friends at the races for being friends to the true sense of the word... you know who you are....

And thanks to everyone else who gives this post the time of day and who gets excited enough to think they need to respond.........

I want to apologize for taking Don out in the A-Main. I tapped him from behind and spun us both to the edge of the track, completely my fault. I waited for him to be marshaled first, however we both lost at least 2 laps.
I tried my pan car during the pre-mains intermissions and I was surprised how well it worked. Anyone out there looking for a great, relaxing place to race their pan car on a Sunday afternoon should make a trip Smethport, PA. It would be great to have enough pan car racers show up to run a heat or two.

Tom - There was a guy down at Altoona last week wanting to know if we ran pan cars...I told him not currently, but I would love to see them going around the track at Racer's Edge! Sure would be nice to get some of those Jamestown guys to come on over, maybe you could influence them Tom.

Rick - While on the subject of pan cars, like I said down at Utica,Pa. when we were there....It sure would be cool to have Racer's Edge be a stop on the Hooter Chassis Outlaw Tour next year....ahem..hint..hint.......

And speaking of Utica,Pa. and the Outlaw tour.....sounds like Rick and myself will likely be heading back there on Sat. Dec. 17th to partake in the festivities again. How about you, Kim and Joy? Tom? Anybody else?

I guess there is only one way to respond to a post like that, sentence by sentence. Thank you first Laura for your support over the years. Thankfully I haven't made you mad before this.........or have I? Ok here we go........

Chris tried to help out a friend and do some motor work... now people think Don is cheating??? Who thinks Don is cheating? I looked at the motor, considered that it looked JUST LIKE a Chameleon, looked at my motor chart that has almost all stock motors listed and it doesn't show a chrome canned EPIC motor so I questioned him. When Mike Tarabori mentioned he had a handout Monster Stock motor that looked just like the one Don had we pulled the motor out and looked at the end to verify it saying EPIC 27.

Let us do some math... if Don got the motor from Chris then chances are Don only knows what Chris has told him? Quite possibly so but does it matter? I'll bundle this question with one below. Yes Don should have known what he had. It is the racers responsibility to have the correct motor for the class. The endbell I don't see as a big deal as ALL EPIC stock endbells are pretty much identical however our rules state you must have the correct armature in the correct can.

Because Chris is such a jerk off, I am sure that he thought it would be cool to make a bogus motor so that one of his friends could be DQ'ed for using an illegal motor... or not?!? I've never considered Chris to be anything other than a friend, one who I hopefully can joke with and was doing with this until this post. Now maybe either he or you or both were taking things to seriously?

Seen as how I have never known Chris to cheat himself while racing, why get someone else in trouble for cheating??? Personally I don't think Chris would ever intentionally cheat or cheat for/with someoone else. If it's something that he doesn't know is cheating, I can't hold that against him or anyone, I just point it out to them. If it happens continually however then there is a problem. Have never had any problems in the past with Don or Chris and I don't think there will be any in the future.

I guess that my real problem is why the source of the problem, being Chris and his mystery motor, was never contacted or asked about what the heck he had given Don??? How exactly am I supposed to do this in the middle of a race day when a car is being teched and the owner has a motor in question from a person on the other side of the state? If Chris would have been here I could have asked him. He wasn't so I couldn't.

Why get on Don when he had no idea what was up??? OH I KNOW, he should know what he is running, right??? I did not get on Don as you suggest. I simply questioned him on what the motor was as I had mentioned previously that I did not have an EPIC rebuildable motor on my list that was chrome and that it looked like a Chameleon can. The second part of this question was already answered above.

He may have known exactly what he was running... but did he know that Chris didn't put the right color endbell on the motor? Did Don tear apart a motor that had just come in the mail from a friend that he trusted to build this motor? HELLO??? Rick the track runner had no clue what the motor was... I admit I didn't know what the motor was. I DO admit I thought I knew what the motor might be, hence the question of if it was a Chameleon can. I take partial responsibility for the problem here but if it weren't for frickin' Trinity having to have handout motors that look different every time you turn around it would make things a lot less complicated.

As I said previously I thank you for the support throughout your time here. To the last part of this paragraph I have to say. Friend, enemy, or first time racer. I have to treat everyone that comes to race at our track as equal. I'm sorry that I'm not a track owner that shows preferential treatment to someone I call a friend. If that friend is cheating (not that anyone was in this case) then he/she has to be called out on it and be DQed. I WILL NOT be someone that shows any special treatment to anyone that walks through the doors be it their first time or 100th............sorry.

So in closing, the motor was questioned, the motor was deemed legal, I had no idea it was from Chris when it first was questioned, and I never accused him or Don of cheating. Hope to see you and your hubby back soon and even if you don't still consider me your friend I'll always consider you guys as friends. Now let's get on with the rest of the season.

First of all, no one thinks Don's motor was illegal. It was questionable because it was different - that's all. It was teched, discussed, cleared, and we all joked about it. That's how it's supposed to work, I think. Don and I talked to Canbquick on the phone shortly after and we had a good laugh over the whole thing.

There are some motor rules I don't understand like some of the 19t rules. I'm not sure why only 2 brand motors are legal or why you have to run a 19t at all in ProStock. But now I think I do see the purpose for the same brand/same armature rule if nothing more than to make it easier to tech.

Not looking for answers...just my $.02

Wheeww! There, I feel better!

Kim it could be worse, I could be like all the other tracks around here and only allow the Chameleon motors. :) I figure a "little" variety is better. Of course maybe I should have just gone with one motor in 19t? Why the 19t only in Pro Stock? It's like the other area tracks modified class, they run 19t. I know you posted you weren't looking for answers but thought I'd post this anyway for everyones benefit.

Polli: It's still a friendly atmosphere at the track - come see for yourself.;)

Must be this new thread, you know how those oval guys are.........JUST KIDDING!!

I don't care much for 19t motors of any brand but there's been a few comments/questions from the guys in that class along those lines.

I was really bummed that my new charger won't work because of the low line voltage. I was hoping to cut down on alittle gear to haul around but I guess not. Rather than go back to hauling a power supply around I'm gonna try alittle gadget called an autotransformer to see if I can boost the voltage enough to make the Integy charger work.

Kim - The autotransformer idea sounds like a neat idea...I'm sure you'll have a few of us hovering over you shoulder all day to see the results. Speaking of chargers, I'm currently without one, sent one to Tekin and the other to Associated(Reedy)...yep,that is just how my cookies ALWAYS crumble! Thinking about going to get a cheapy tomorrow to get me through, but who knows? If anybody has a low end charger they want to part with....or a good one at the right price let me know.(AC-DC only.)

I did that last Sunday so he could repeak Tom. He's sceert he's gonna hurt somebody elses charger so he doesn't want to do that. Try talking to the guy will ya?

Kim.......have no idea what that is but I'd also be VERY interested to see what the outcome is. We may have a bunch of people looking for these autotransformers if it works out. Why is it the questions never go to the right person? :)

Shawn..........you better not come up here Sunday and not bring anything just because you don't have a charger! We can get you charged up for the day, trust me.

Put a hold on those plans to Utica for now. Was just on Bulldog R/Cs website and they have changed the race next weekend to up there (Erie). We may be heading into snow territory for next week!! I have a email in to Glen to find out for sure what's going on. If it's right the next 2 races will be up there (Dec 17th and Jan 1st).

Tom said something about Jamestown taking a week off but didn't elaborate. To bad they are having computer problems. I know what that's like. Since we've updated and I've gotten the program figured out things have run pretty smooth for us (knocking on wood).

Another great day of racing here however. 21 racers showed up to do battle and three walked away with new track records. The speeds for the fastest stock trucks are just SICK this year! Shows what high voltage packs, the correct gearing, and a perfect setup can do for you. :) Of course I saw just what a new motor could do for me. A couple guys running truck figured a 93 is quite possible. One more week for racing before we take a couple weeks off for the holidays.

New records
Stock truck - Adam Hamilton...92/5:03.30

Tom said something about Jamestown taking a week off but didn't elaborate. To bad they are having computer problems. I know what that's like. Since we've updated and I've gotten the program figured out things have run pretty smooth for us (knocking on wood).

Sounds like they think they have to send the decoder back to AMB....

10-4 on the holding pattern for Utica on the 17th. I see they dropped Crossing Ville altogether......Hmmmmm.......I think you should send Glen another e-mail and negotiate a stop at Racer's Edge this year!!!!!!! It's worth a shot, why not??
Great idea. I think rescheduling one of the canceled races to Racer's Edge would be worth pursuing.

Tom,
Shaun N. here - Kevin updated me on some of the stuff with tour series from Sat. night - I'll be calling Glen today to see what's up. I'll try to help put the bug in his ear to get a race down there this year for the tour. Always wanted to try it out but need to get some pan cars to come down with me. I'll try though would be nice to run somewhere different to adds to the challenge. What is the run line down there? Thanks! Also are you going to Bulldog this weekend if the tour series is there?

Shaun (and anyone else) tour race will be at Bulldog (Harborcreek) this Sat. 17th and Jamestown has picked up the cancelled race for Jan. 21st. Jamestown is down until Jan. 7th. The track at Bulldog will open at 10:00 Sat and racing will probably start around 1:00 Also don't forget about the big New Year's day race at Bulldog with the same starting times. Last year we had 90+ racers with people coming in from as far away as Rochester,NY. Most people brought food to pass and it was just a great day of racing and hanging out with people you hadn't seen in a while. Don't miss it -it's a blast- Bob

Bob,
Thanks - Kevin had given me a call lst night & said something to me about some changes & I just gave Glen a call. I put the bug in his ear about running down here at Smethport what do you think? Tom you ran your pan car there right? The only thing I heard about was a bump on one straight or something? Can't be that bad is it?
Bob - see ya Sat. & the 1st as well!!!

Shaun - I ran most of a battery pack through my pan car last weekend at Smethport. There is one bump near the outside of the front straight, but overall it's very good. We've been running 1/12th scale roadcourse without any bump/ride height related problems. As for the run-line I'll let Rick answer that question as he is the track owner. Let me know if you want to try to run this Sunday. Maybe we could get Courtney to bring his car also.

Hey guys, it would be great to have pancars at the track again as there hasn't been any in years. Like Tom said, there seems to be one pretty good "bump" on the front straight. I didn't get to see him run but we don't seem to have any problems with 1/12 scale. Like I said, I'll take his word for it as I didn't see him run. I'd really like to have some cars run on the track before I would commit to having one of Glens races here. I don't want a bunch of guys to go away unhappy. :( No offense Tom but I'd like to get some other opinions to help ease my mind. :) Center line at our track is about 98' for those of you that want to know. Hope to see some of you guys this weekend if we don't run into a blizzard on the way to Erie.

Seems I made a booboo on my report last night...........hey it had been a long day and that's my story. :) We actually had four people with track records and five records all together. K1M upped his former record by a lap, bumping it up to 71/5:01.71 in Open BuRP. So the track was exceptionally fast last week even though there were several comments of it feeling slow. Of course we all know those are the weeks you normally go the fastest!

No problem Rick. That's why I asked Shaun and Courtney (and anyone else) to bring their cars and give it a try. It would be great to see pan cars at Racer's Edge again.

Tom,
I'll talk to them, not sure with the holiday stuff here for this Sunday - have to make up for racing Sat. but try to set it up for right after the first of the year. I should see Kevin tomorrow night & I'll see what might work for him & try Courtney & let you know if you should bring your pan car this Sunday or not. Do you have mini-t packs left?

OK, sounds good. I sold my last 6, Mini-T packs today, but I ordered 24 more. They should be here in 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. How many do you need?

Tom,
Not to get off track from the track itself but I am looking for 2 packs for sure before Christmas & then probably 2 more after the first of year, for the boy's trucks for Christmas. Thanks - Shaun N.

Ok guys that might be wondering about WHY I don't have a bigger supply of foams. I originally ordered 20 pair of greens and 13 pair of aquas. I got 5 pair of greens and 11 pair of aquas in the order, the rest were on backorder. So I start checking and Horizon says the first part of January before they are available. THEN I look at Tower and they have both compounds as discontinued. So I send out an email to Jaco themselves wondering what is up, were they discontinuing the donuts? This is the email I got back today.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we will be discontinuing the donuts since donut sales
are very slow and we must make room for new part numbers. We may come
out with truck donuts in green compound after the first of the year.
There seems to be a big demand for these.

JACO

So in short, I have 2 pair of aqua tires left until I can find another source of foam donuts so take care of them tires! :)

On another note. Kind of planning on making a trip to Erie this Saturday for a little change of pace.........weather permitting. I know what things are like between Salamanca and Erie so if it looks like snow I dunno if I'll be going. Track is supposed to open at 10:30 and racing start at 12:30-1:00. If you need information on how to get there, visit http://www.jjgun.com/jjgun/Bulldog/RC%20Main.htm It's a nice track, little smaller than Jamestown (for those that have been there) and when we went up last year it was a real good time.

We're planning on going up to Bulldog for the "Hangover" race on New Years Day. Sounds like a neat thing to do, and I've never been to that track before. The weather's not likely to be any better then, so we may even stay overnite in Erie and head back the next day.

Maybe you should try another source for donuts:

Yea it is looking worse and worse for this weekend. Calling for lake effect and once you get up around Jametown things can go to crap in a hurry. Might just have to call off the trip and go get my shopping done (HOPEFULLY!!). I was hoping to make it to this one and the Jan 1st race but we'll see what happens............

On the subject of foams, I have heard Coopers R/C makes tires too. Seems everyone doesn't want to offer donuts anymore. TRC used to offer them also but I can't find any part #s for them either.

Rick, right now Buffalo weather is calling for most of the Fri. and Sat. snow to be located close to the Buffalo area and minimal snow in the Jamestown/Erie area, but we all know how that can change. lol.
Check with RC 4Less for foams. You might have some luck there.
Hope to see you Sat.

Bob........yea my Mom has been leery of the section of road from Erie to Jamestown ever since the time she and my Aunt were coming back from Erie seeing my Grandma. She said the only way they were still moving is following the tail lights in front of them. If the tail lights would have gone off the road they would have followed! Of course I'll be driving but that doesn't help her blood pressure any either. LOL Hope to be there but not looking good. :(

Rick,
If you're coming from Smethport which way were going? I am going to the race from Warren here & will go out through Corry that way. If you cam through by the dam - went that way quite a bit this summer again to MCR to the races.
Tom,
I'll email you tonight! Thanks!

If I went we would have been going to Bradford and up 17/86. Seems to be the quickest shot. Decided to hold off until the Jan 1st race and hopefully get Xmas shopping done tomorrow. Anybody that is going, have a good time!

Seems I might have shot myself in the foot by posting about Jaco discontinuing the donuts. Seems Bruce (RC4Less) is sold out of aquas now and might be on greens as of my posting here. :( Seems I might have sent him a bunch of business though. Talking to John from BSR tires about donuts now however. We'll see what happens......

Just my luck. Lake effect snow warnings all over the TV last night so I decide to not go to Erie and go Christmas shopping instead. Went to Olean and Bradford today and the weather was a SUNNY as can be! Bob, PLEASE tell me it snowed up there today or I'm going to feel like a REAL idiot! LOL

Paul, I can't remember where I got the simple green. I think I got it at Walmart, but not sure. If I canlocate it I'll pick you up a tube.

Sorry Rick-You're an idiot. LOL. We haven't had any snow since early Fri. afternoon. Sat. was sunny all day and today is the same. I think the threat of bad weather scared a lot of people away as we only had 10 heats. Because of the anticipated large crowd for New Years Day we talked about opening the track early. Nothing was decided but I'll let you know as soon as I know anything.

Hope your racing was good today. Bob Patch
