View Full Version : Old stash of HW/Matchbox
70XR7 12-05-2005, 02:28 PM My parents found two of my old cases of cars from back in the late '60's/early '70's with some HW, Matchbox, Corgi, etc. in them. I don't really collect them - I'm a JL guy at this point - so I have no clue what they are worth. Most of them are showing the effects of a 5 year old playing with them - dings, chips, bent axles, missing wheels - are these worth anything? I'd post pics if I could ever figure out how to...sigh...
Dave_anto364 12-05-2005, 02:51 PM Well it depends on the cars themselves. List the names and I would also list the color and tires (redlines for HW, transitional wheels for matchboz or standard wheels). the corgis depend on the car itself - any corgi rockets?
TheDarkCutlass 12-05-2005, 06:10 PM Got Olds? :)
Best bet is to look on ebay, gives you a general rough idea of what each one is going for.

Dave_anto364 12-06-2005, 07:46 AM The Fire Cheif is an Ols 442, has a chrome plastic bottom?
Deopending on the condition of each they could fetch from 10 - 100 each. The jack Rabbit was also given out by Jack in the Box, there is a way to tell if it is a reg iss or the Jack issue - but I do not know it. Maybe someone else does. The chrome cars appear to come from the super chromes pack they can run about 30-40 a piece. Go to a book store or library and get a Tomarts price guide, it will give you a good idea. FYI the Jack Rabbit if Jack in the Box give away - $ 200-400

Also, the JRS from Jack In the Box would have 3 red stripes on the sides, the # "1" on the trunk, and say "Jack In The Box" on the hood.

carnut2256 03-05-2006, 11:49 AM This was my first foray into the vintage diecast forum, and I am amazed at how much there is to know about the older diecasts that we just took as "toys" back then, all the different variations that the average kid never paid attention to back then, and I'm blown away by how much you guys know about these cars. Wow.
BigJohn's chevy 03-07-2006, 01:56 PM I'll buy the corvette and firebird if the price is right,
