I received the newest batch of Hefty Cells IP3800's just before the weekend. Wow!!!!.

Saturday: The RC Shack in Mahomet, IL I broke my old 19T track record set last month by over 4 laps.

Sunday: Allen’s Raceway in Rochester, IL running Brushless 4300 added a 1 ½ laps to the very strong track record set by Mr. Kliber last week.

Weekend results: 2 track records shattered, 2 TQ’s and 2 race wins. These cells are the real deal.

I think Hayes has some in stock at Lefthander. But not for long....

I got to run the newest batch of Pole Position IP's this weekend in Modified. CRAZY!!! Broke my track record by another 2 seconds over the previous IP's. Ran faster upfront, in the middle, and out the back door with 25-30 seconds at 35amps left!!! Still faster and more punch than anything else I've run lately! Thanks H-A for making a killer battery even better!!!!

Cliff those are IP's but looks like the older version. Still good. I beleive only Pole Position and Hefty Cells have the newest generation. Other matchers should have them soon.

Run time is much higher and voltage a little better.

Your right Sonny, run time has come up to 480's some 490's, I just need to update my web site info (which will be done shortly!)

Thanks

Anything Hefty Cells matches is always top shelf stuff! Good to hear the new cells are running strong.

Corey, I've been buried with all this snow last week and now this week, I'll call you soon and square up on our deal. Thanks,

Trinity 'cannot buy' IP's? Sorry, I guess I don't understand - Are they out of money?

Next?

trinity cannot buy the cells from the manufacturer, the manufacturer of the IP's have exclusive agreements with only a few distributors, trinity is not one of them therefore they cannot buy them. they can buy packs like you or i, but cannot buy cases of cells at distributor cost.

Mark Recio

You're right, they can not buy from the manufacturer. They can, however, buy them from the importer. Hence the problem - they wouldn't be at the top of the food chain, both from a supply and cost perspective. It isn't that they can't buy them like every other matcher, it's that they choose not to position themselves in the role offered to them.

It's more of a control issue then anything else.

you guys got it all wrong about the Snowbirds. Mike Boylan is a good friend of mine and we have had a few talks about this years race.

this is straight off the snowbirds website

Re: IP3800 NOT LEGAL?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically a timing issue for the race. We wanted to announce battery rules last month so racers knew what to plan for and expect for the race. The newer cells out there might still not be approved by Roar and others and there is still quite a bit of controversy surrounding them. So sticking with the 2 most common cells that are matched and used by most everyone is what we did.

So please resind the comment about Trinity the fact that Trinity doesn't match these cells had no effect on Mikes decision.

Also mike uses ROAR rules as a guideline and these cells don't meet them.

You mean 'you guy' right? I count only one person who said Trinity ran the Birds. I too know Mike, and know that NO ONE owns him ;)

FWIW, If ROAR uses the overwhelming yes vote response they received via their recent advisory vote (adopt IFMAR's battery size rule), the IP's, as well as the IB's may be legal as soon as January 1.

Just want to make sure it is clear.

from what I am hearing around the talk is the europeons are going to stick with 43 mm and so will roar and those 2 organizations will pressure ifmar to go back to 43mm.

Also from what I have been told by my battery guy the IB 3800 has no problems meeting ROARs current specs.

I have a very informed source in Europe. What you have been told about EFRA is not correct

So If Mike says it would be ok to run the IP cells then Trinity would not, or should not, have a problem with that

cleveland did not allow the Ip cells either.
as for the trinity scandal you all are making that crap up!

pole position is/was a sponsor of the snowbirds as well as trinity. just so happens that pole position uses IP cells.

200 different" experts" have taken digital calipers to the IP cells and the IB cells and there have been 200 different lengths posted.

please stop with the rumors ....mike boylan has talked to those affected and life goes on. i'm sure the Ip cells are great cells. if i want to run the snowbirds i need to abide by the snowbirds rules. as with every rule made someone doesn't like them. honestly only mike boylan knows why he does what he does. i respect mikes choices and i will be attending the worlds largest r/c race of the year. i hope you all do the same. happy holidays fellas

EFRA the European version of ROAR is sticking with the 43mm rule for length. IFMAR is the only one to go to 44mm and that was with an out going presidents ruling. The new president of IFMAR is also the president of EFRA. So I don't know if that will change which it can if the president decides it is best.

Also 2006 is a Worlds year for Touring Car and 12th scale. IFMAR rule is ALL batteries to be legal for a Worlds event have to be available for purchase 6 months prior to the event. I already know of one company that has released 4200 mAh cells. Because it is a Worlds year lots of stuff changes in a short amount of time. I also believe that EFRA has a floating approval procedure that all products that need approval have to be available XXX of days before the event so all can have the chance to purchase. I may be wrong through as my french is about as good as my spanish.

I'm not hijacking this thread just helping with the understanding of others battery rules AS THEY ARE PRINTED NOW. Again because of being a Worlds year lots can change.

The IP's rock this weekend at K/N speedway, taking TQ, new track record by almost two laps and finish 1,2,3 in mod. New record John H 66 4:03, the old record was 64 4:02.

Do you think that there will be an advantage to running them in four cell stock. Can anyone post on here if they have compaired the two cell brands. Thanks

12-12-2005, 02:47 PM
Bill, I have run all three of the current top cells, GP3700, IB3800, and the IP3800. The IP's have proven to me to be the best running in stock, 19, and mod. the biggest difference has been in mod, with stock being the smallest increase.

ovalrc
12-12-2005, 05:44 PM
I cannot say anything about the GP 3700's, because I've never run them, but I have run both the IB 3800's and the IP 3800's in 19 turn and modified. I have seen a small advantage in 19 turn, but in modified I saw a drastic difference. From here on out these will be in my car.

Yeah, that guy was fast, too bad we couldn't make our last qualifying laps together, it would have been real close. I figure we would have been about 5 to 10 feet apart. I got caught at the line and you were in turn one when the horn sounded. Can't wait to do it again, nice run John.

IP's also had a good showing at the Toy's for Tot's race in Cinci this weekend. TQ and win in OPEN MOD, 3 of the top 4 in a VERY tough 19 turn field, and the fastest guy in brushless 5800 also used them(he just didn't have much luck). IP's seem to run faster up front, the same through the middle, and finish better than all the others. Oh, and I've noticed with the previous batches, that the runtime stays intact, even after 12-15 runs in Modified(which is really good by the way), I'll keep you posted on the newest batch. Thanks again to Infinite Power for a GREAT battery!!

from what i heard it is the same.. but i also heard the dead shorted packs dont seem to run as good..

MIKE VALENTINE
12-13-2005, 03:54 PM
When dead shorting the packs didn't run any faster in stock. So I see no need to dead short them, and lose runtime. The IR did decrease slightly and the avg voltage did go up but not enough to conter act the runtime loss and increase the voltage curve little to none.
