Got a used Hyperdrive 0700 and took it apart to clean it. I figured I would be ok considering that I have taken an 8th scale buggy apart with no instructions cleaned every part of it and put it back together but this simple pan car has kicked my butt.

The pivot balls that mount in the T-Bar are not snug between the two plastic pieces that sandwich them, seems to be put together per instructions. There is about 1-2mm of play. In addition the pod is no longer flush with the bottom of the main chassis it is up about 1-2mm.

What the heck did I miss here?

humm the pod being lower check and make sure that the black washers are under the tplate on the pod. as for the tplate slop make sure the pivot sockets are on top of the tplate. the 2-56 screws should screw through the bottom of the tplate and the black sockets should be on top of the tplate. screw it together so that it is tight but not too tight so it binds up the ball.

you can refer to the hyperdrive pro3 instructions for an idea of what i am saying

Yea it seems to be put together per instructions, never touched the black washers.

Sounds like you put one half of the socket below the t plate and one above. That will cause that for sure. Make sure the sockets are both on top of the t plate.
