View Full Version : Aeon Flux 747 12-01-2005, 02:15 PM Any opinions on this movie? Zorro 12-01-2005, 02:40 PM My opinion is that I have no interest in seeing it. BEBruns 12-01-2005, 02:44 PM The movie isn't being screened for critics before its release. This is never a good sign. Carson Dyle 12-01-2005, 03:04 PM See this movie at your own peril. It is truly dreadful. You have been warned. Babaganoosh 12-01-2005, 03:04 PM I was a fan of the cartoon so I'll probably, more than likely going to see this movie. Hopefully it won't tank as much as D00M did. Here's hoping... heiki 12-01-2005, 03:37 PM I was a fan of the cartoon so I'll probably, more than likely going to see this movie. Hopefully it won't tank as much as D00M did. Here's hoping... The creator of Aeon Flux stated this is not the movie he wished to have seen made. terryr 12-01-2005, 03:41 PM So it's unanimous. Dave Hussey 12-01-2005, 03:54 PM Oy - is this "The Return of Catwoman"? I'm rather surprised that an actress like Charlize Thereon would get involved in any project that was headed for critical and perhaps box-office disaster. Huzz BEBruns 12-01-2005, 04:21 PM Didn't you know? When an actress wins an Academy Award, she is required to appear in at least two cheesy action movies. Angelina Jolie made the smart move of making sure one was a sequal. scotpens 12-01-2005, 06:03 PM Didn't you know? When an actress wins an Academy Award, she is required to appear in at least two cheesy action movies. In which her costumes reveal at least 75% of her body, unless she's starting to SAG. . . (sorry about that). Seriously, I have the hots for Halle Berry and I adore Charlize Theron, but why do they have to do this dreck? Krel 12-01-2005, 06:22 PM In which her costumes reveal at least 75% of her body, unless she's starting to SAG. . . (sorry about that). Seriously, I have the hots for Halle Berry and I adore Charlize Theron, but why do they have to do this dreck? No leather bikini, Charlize Theron didn't like it. But you know before the Oscar she wouldn't have objected. As far as I am concerned, no leather bikini = no Aeon Flux. No matter what they say. David. El Gato 12-01-2005, 07:43 PM In which her costumes reveal at least 75% of her body, unless she's starting to SAG. . . (sorry about that). SAG? What does the Screen Actors Guild have to do with this? Are you implying that it's a SAG req for an Oscar-winning actress to be in cheesy movies? :p José PhilipMarlowe 12-01-2005, 08:52 PM No leather bikini, Charlize Theron didn't like it. But you know before the Oscar she wouldn't have objected. As far as I am concerned, no leather bikini = no Aeon Flux. No matter what they say. David. I don't think any actress in the world could wear the leather thong from the old cartoons and still keep her PG in the action sequences, if you know what I mean. You might be able to pull it off with CGI. Babaganoosh 12-01-2005, 09:33 PM The creator of Aeon Flux stated this is not the movie he wished to have seen made. So? :freak: El Gato 12-01-2005, 10:25 PM I don't think any actress in the world could wear the leather thong from the old cartoons and still keep her PG in the action sequences, if you know what I mean. You might be able to pull it off with CGI. What we have here is a failure of imagination. That's why it's wrong for these producers to have gotten a hold of this movie. A good porn producer would've had a blast making this. I'm kidding, of course. :) José Krel 12-01-2005, 11:02 PM I don't think any actress in the world could wear the leather thong from the old cartoons and still keep her PG in the action sequences, if you know what I mean. You might be able to pull it off with CGI. Or with spirit gum. Lots, and lots of spirit gum. At a con back in the 80's there was a woman in a Vamparella costume that used so much spirt gum, the costume looked like it was soaking wet. David. scotpens 12-02-2005, 03:30 AM SAG? What does the Screen Actors Guild have to do with this? Are you implying that it's a SAG req for an Oscar-winning actress to be in cheesy movies? :pNo, just an excuse for a corny pun. I don't think any actress in the world could wear the leather thong from the old cartoons and still keep her PG in the action sequences, if you know what I mean. You might be able to pull it off with CGI."Pull it off"? Don't you mean "keep it on"? Oops, I did it again! John P 12-02-2005, 08:36 AM So? :freak: You must be a producer! terryr 12-02-2005, 10:39 AM That's right. In hollywood, people who know nothing about the subject know the most about the subject. sbaxter 12-02-2005, 11:29 AM Hmmm ... I wonder if they considered making this an animated film? Nah! That's just craziness! :freak: Qapla' SSB big-dog 12-02-2005, 11:45 AM Animated films never make money. I mean, just look at Finding Nemo, Shreck, Ice Age etc. All bombs. Zorro 12-02-2005, 11:58 AM Charlize was on Letterman the other night and they showed a clip. Believe me, for all intents and purposes this is an animated film. In the clip they aired - Charlize and another actress were the "real" objects in the frame - they were "flying" through the use of cables - and the entire environment around them - sky, grass, structures - was cartoonish CGI. John P 12-02-2005, 10:46 PM For $30 you can have the original, complete: http://www.dvdplanet.com/product_listing.asp?productid=62260&format=DVD razorwyre1 12-03-2005, 10:01 AM if anybody saw the thing talisa soho wore because she thought vampirellas comic book costume was slutty, you know why actors shouldnt be able to make these desicions. i have grave doubts. aeon flux was a series of disjointed adventures, the climax of each being her death. stretching it into a 90 minute narrative,,,,, sorry, nope. also a lot of its appeal was its visual style and nobody, not even the remarkable ms theron is built like that. Steve244 12-03-2005, 10:23 AM Um, Charlize Theron looks very aeorodynamic in the previews... terryr 12-03-2005, 10:52 AM Now if they did Ghost In The Shell with an actress with the necessary 'chest luggage'.... 747 12-03-2005, 12:59 PM Now if they did Ghost In The Shell with an actress with the necessary 'chest luggage'.... Jolie? John P 12-03-2005, 05:06 PM Jolie? Too much lips. Needs to have a face more like Christina Ricci, but not quite so little-girl-looking. 747 12-03-2005, 10:13 PM Too much lips. Needs to have a face more like Christina Ricci, but not quite so little-girl-looking. Lindsay Lohan? CaptFrank 12-04-2005, 01:46 AM Hopefully it won't tank as much as D00M did. Here's hoping... "DOOM" is out? It tanked already? See this movie at your own peril. It is truly dreadful. You have been warned. If "AEON FLUX" hasn't been reviewed, how do you know it is bad? Have you seen it? John P 12-04-2005, 10:28 AM Lindsay Lohan? Not old enough, and too anorexic. Motoko is a mature woman, probably in her mid-30s. She's a major in the security forces, after all. Of course, since her body is 100% artificial, she appears to be younger. S she could be played by someone 25-30. terryr 12-04-2005, 10:50 AM I've been watching Ghost in the Shell, but never found out how/why she has an artificial body. Anyone know? Zorro 12-04-2005, 11:08 AM If "AEON FLUX" hasn't been reviewed, how do you know it is bad? Because he's seen it. And that was a review. scotpens 12-04-2005, 03:17 PM Motoko is a mature woman . . . Of course, since her body is 100% artificial, she appears to be younger. You mean like Cher?:hat: El Gato 12-04-2005, 04:47 PM ^ I'm thinking of the line from "Baby Got Back": Silicon parts are made for toys José John P 12-04-2005, 11:23 PM You mean like Cher?:hat: Almost! I don't recall it ever being said how or when she decided to go fully cyborg. In the future society of the series, almost everone in the world has elected to have SOME kind of cybernetic alteration, especially remote mental net connection. ClubTepes 12-06-2005, 12:28 AM In the original animated Aeon Flux wasn't she.......a..........playing the other side of the fence...so to speak. And in this didn't I hear that her family was killed. Did they tinker with a little 'orientation'. You just shouldn't straighten out something like that. terryr 12-06-2005, 11:01 AM You just want to see the love scene. 747 03-08-2006, 11:17 AM Just saw it. Not that bad. I haven't seen the MTV series, so went in with no clue. Better than I thougth it was going to be and better than "Ultra Violet" - though I do have a soft spot for Milla... terryr 03-08-2006, 01:50 PM Aeon Flub. In the last GitS, The guy with the robot eyes says to Motoko, 'why do you keep getting a female body?'. Makes think she was a guy. [shiver] Knyteman 03-11-2006, 01:30 AM She became a full cyborg as a child after a serious accident that destroyed most of her body. For a more indepth account watch the second season episode with the crippled boy who makes origami (?) cranes. It is never stated in the episode but the clues are there rather clearly. The male body thing was just Batou ribbing her. I think the general idea being the male bodies probably are constructed more ruggedly and have a greater augmented strength. She is female though. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
