I'm going to be in this fantastic canadian city over christmas, and of course I want to add a slot car element to my stay. I'm finding out who is based there, that is the easy part but staying in touch with them via my new phone has me confused just a little.

It seems to call Canada you have to use either 001 or 1, but it is unclear if you have a mobile/cell what you do. Or why sometimes the advce says use 001, other times just 1....
As for the phoning home, I have always assumed that the code for the UK is +44 but what I have read makes me unsure if that applies for cell phones.
As Canada is, from a dialling POV, the same as the US - I'd like to ask what codes you guys use when away from home??

I call Canada weekly and I only have to dial a 1 before the number no matter which phone I use. Make sure your Cell is a second Gen phone though or it won't work in Canada. I made the mistake of taking my new phone last year and was shocked to find the candian system was only gen II not III yet. This may have changed by now as I have not made my trip up this year. Good Luck and Have fun I lived in T.O. when I was a kid and thier is lots to do and see during your trip.
