The 2006 Rule book is at the printer now and will be uploaded to the website soon. There were some minor changes to the weight rules that came from the class committee although I don't recall the exact specifications. I'm sure when Kenny reads this, he will be able to inform you directly.

I have seen conflicting dates on the 2006 ROAR paved oval nats. What are the correct dates? Want to make sure I have the right time off!!

That is great, when did they get revised? Glad I will be on vacation for the original date, and miss the race.

I'm not sure when the host track requested the date change. ROAR does not assign dates. ROAR awards the bids and selects dates from those provided by the host as to when they think they can do the event. For the dates to change, the host had to have requested it. Since its the exact same weekend as the off road modified nationals, I can assure you ROAR did not request the conflict.

For oval, this could be approached to the committee to discuss it. For other classes, I can't see that happening. 4 rounds are required and normally on road fuel events are filling to capacity as well as off road fuel. No way to get it done in less than three days.

what about the date was it changed or not this track is my home track and want all people that had planned on coming to attend it as i understand it thats the date that they assumed it would be also till they saw it here so whats the date people need to know we do have jobs which let us play sometimes

The reason I requested the owners reach me is because, one, I do not know if they are the ones that requested the date change and two, I have called several times with no answer.

If they have not contacted ROAR with a situation regarding the dates, then one should probably assume the revision of the schedule was at their request, of which, they have every right to do. :)

Apparently the track owner changed the dates. Although, the competition director, David Lee, is at the Snowbirds right now and I haven't had a chance to speak to him.

being that castor and i are from indiana and we do have one of the nicest indoor offroad tracks around, i would say it is a tuff decision.i just wish roar could get there dates better for all racing.

I agree it would be a tough one for you guys....

Yeap since Planet is 25 mins from my place.

I know the dates for that were set back in Nov. Strange that thye would hold 2 big races on the same weekend in kinda the same region.

yep.... I'm not in favor of those dates being scheduled like that but .....

had to be.

Remember, ROAR doesn't schedule the dates for National events. ROAR accepts bids and proposed dates from host tracks but must follow the requested dates due to the track owners ability to do the event, weather and local considerations.

Yes, it will utilize handout tires. We intend to list the compounds on the entry form for your information.

I vote let's have a NOVAK SS 4300 class.

Whatever needs to be done to determine if they are gonna offer a brushless class and what motor it is going to be, needs to be done and posted.

Season is starting, people will start to practice with whatever motor it is going to be....

1/10th scale 4 cell Brushless (limited) :confused: (used 5800 at Carpet Nats)
1/12th scale 4 cell 19T limited modified

12.4.7.4 Handout Procedure.... The Host picks the tires to handout. Any business agreement is between the host and the tire's provider, not ROAR.

8.9.8 1/10 Scale Electric Oval, 8.9.8.1 Dimenensional specifications (page 52): Weight - 4 cell capped Tires Minimum 43 ounces.
8.9.7 1/12 Scale Electric Oval, 8.9.7.1 Dimensional specifications (page 51):
Weight capped Tires Minimum 35 ounces.

Hey, I listed page, paragraph and rule number (in the new revised 2006 books) if it is wrong let me know! There is no difference listed in the rule book between road course and oval as far as entry fee or cost of handout tires. I can only go by what is published (have you read your rule book or the Nationals Guidelines book?) Don't take this wrong but this is all I can find and I'm trying to be helpful. :thumbsup:

I can tell you for sure that those are not Oval entry fee's.

I think the entry fee for stock class in previous years has been around $125.00 for tires, motor and entry. But it may be alittle higher this year as prices are always inching up. Entry fee at the Roar Carpet Nats was $65.00 for non handout motor classes. So if you say 20.00 motor/60.00 for tires/65.00 for entry that would be $145.00. Look for entry for stock to be $125.00 to $145.00.

Entry form will be in a few weeks I am sure. Brushless class will brobably be 4300, or at least that is my opinion.

Tire choices will probably be made in May or June, after enough people have had time to go and give Tony Rush thier imput on what works for them. And Raptor is included in the people..:) ..HAHA.

John is correct, those fee are for non oval race events. For obvious reasons, handout tires for the other venues and classes are not fully mounted tires where as oval ones are. Handout tires have and will remain a requirement for paved oval races.

As far as brushless, we can not pin down which motor(s) will be allowed. Since ROAR has two approved brushless motors each should be allowed in a limited class. I am working with LRP and Novak as to what would be a considered "equal" or if is even possible. Charlie S. from Novak and I have been in discussions, I was at the worlds warm-up in Italy last weekdn for IFMAR and was trying to get some input from Reto of LRP. Time didn't allow but I will get to the bottom of it.

Sorry to vent on you but.... why have a rulebook that is incomplete? I tried to post information about the Nationals and have been told that my information is wrong. I quoted directly from the rulebook and was wrong. Now I find out that there are rules that are not even listed in the rulebook.

2006 Roar Paved National handout tire selection has been made. It will be 3 greens and a red left rear. Pro-lit L green for left front, red pro-lite L for left rear, green S net for right front, green R net for right rear. We went down to the track over Memorial weekend and tested for 2 days. Weather was hot, sky was clear 2nd day at 95 degree’s. The track temp peaked out at 125 degree’s. Tire’s broke in nice running open mod and never changed with 25 runs in open mod.

Track info:

Track had a dusting sealer put on this spring and there was no dust to be an issue. The track this year was better for traction and the apron’s in the corners kept the dirt and grass off the track when you cut the corner too short. We requested that they paint the aprons a contrasting color. The painting line around the bottom of the track is a little faded and on a bright day it is difficult to distinguish the apron from the bottom of the track, especially in open mod with the speeds of today’s batteries.

This is one of the finest paved tracks ever built for oval racing, so you owe it to yourself to make plans to attend this year’s Paved Nationals. The track is only a year or two old and has not had a lot of exposure, therefore this should be a really awesome race from the aspect that there isn’t a large hometown group of racers that may have a unique advantage. Kind of like the first couple years of the snowbirds. Those of you that have none or limited experience racing with capped tires should make plans to attend, there will plenty of tech support on tire use and care. Most of the car manufactures will be on hand for chassis setup support.
