View Full Version : Waiting to Try 120 ohm Resistors?
AfxToo 11-24-2005, 10:56 AM I just noticed that the HO World 120 ohm resistors are being offered at a substantial discount for the next week or so. If you've been waiting to see how one of these may tame your twitchy TJets now would be a good time to experiment.

jack0fall 11-24-2005, 11:13 AM  Thanks AFXTOO  I know that this has been reported as one of the best things to do to get better control of the various cars but I just haven't gotten off my lazy butt to get the resistors. Guess now I don't have any excuse (plus there's a dead line). Thanks again for the heads up.

micyou03 11-24-2005, 11:20 PM How much were they before? I thought Ipaid $9.99 like 3 years ago.
By the way, they really work great.
Mike(^RacerX^) 11-24-2005, 11:55 PM I have a pair of {arma Econos I bought with 120s in them.
For the JL cars they are the only way to go!!!!!

AfxToo 11-25-2005, 08:02 AM They were $15.00 each and were not coated on the back. Now they are coated and $2.00 less each. They have made a number of improvements to the product since it first came out. I thought they were even more expensive than $15.00 at one point but I may be confusing them with the BRP Nitro which is $20.00 but is a slightly different design with a non linear action.
ParkRNDL 11-25-2005, 02:06 PM I have two Nitros... a 90 and a 120 (or maybe 95 and 125, I don't remember...) and I love them. I'm sure the HO World ones are just as good, but at the time I was looking, I happened to go to a hobby shop where they had the BRPs, so that's what I got...

hartracerman 11-25-2005, 03:25 PM I cant remember, what did you have to use to coat the first ones?
AfxToo 11-26-2005, 08:08 AM You can coat the back (not the front where the wiper button rubs) with epoxy. It's primarily there to physically stabilize the windings but is also keeps out moisture. Commercial rheostats use an epoxy resin, silicone enamel, or vitreous enamel as a conformal coating.
co_zee 11-26-2005, 09:09 AM If one already has a Parma type controller, for less than the cost of most resistors, one can build a electronic controller that works quite well for T-Jets up to and including basic classes of magnet cars. It does take a little time and some fabrication but the few I have built have been worth the effort.

And do you have some schematics, electronic parts needed, photos of finished products??
okracer 11-27-2005, 09:37 AM yes id like to have a drawing of this also and i would think all u would need is a parma handle and you can make the frame out of something else if its all electronic please share this with us id love to try to build one
