View Full Version : What I wish they'd do.
Dadvball 11-21-2005, 11:40 PM Put something other than oversized wheels with low profile tires on the TransAm type race cars. I love the Mustang and the Camaro, which I saw for the first time last week, but not with those wheels! I wish they'd put something a little more authentic, or racing/rally type wheel design.
I'm just not a big fan of the new school wheels.
SuperSport 11-22-2005, 02:58 AM Let JADA do their own thing, they do it well.
JADA blew up by filling a gap in the diecast world and went the extreme custom route. Which isn't all that "unrealistic" on real cars now-a-days anyway, it was inevitable that the trend would expand to smaller scales. I love what JADA has been doing since the very first DUB CITY S-10s and their product has gotten better every year since. In fact, its like they have gotten more realistic. Speakers that look like speakers, amps that look like amps, airbag tanks, all the licensed wheels and stuff, you catch my drift.
I can be a purist when it comes to real steal cars, a wise man, and local car building guru once told me that GM, Ford , Dodge, or which ever nameplate one may be loyal to, spent MILLIONS of dollars getting those old cars just right. Thats why they become classics. Theres something euphoric about a vintage car that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.
But, I can also appreciate the artistry and individualism of custom work. Its an extension of the American spirit (man that came out corny). We love our cars and we want them to be unique. Its something I strive for in my own real world projects, and I find JADA toys to be all about that.
I guess my point is, there are a boat load of die cast companies making muscle cars in the "realistic" factory versions. Why "wish" when you can get straight versions of some of these cars from other die cast companies?
I wish JADA would include more gimmicks. Start using more LED and motorized technology. Oh yeah, no more "80s mini trucking style paintjobs". I can't stand that neon, pastel, ripped metal, airbrused, new wave stuff. Keep them candies clean.
madmanmark 11-23-2005, 12:17 PM I agree that Jada should do their own thing - something else that no one else is doing. That's why I think they should do cars that no one else is doing and offer them in several series to maximize the tooling. For example, I think they should do a '59 Buick, a '61 Olds, a '65 Bonneville, and a '57-'59 Imperial. These are all cars which nobody DARES to do and can be offered in Street & Low, Showroom Floor, Road Rats, AND Dub City series to make them profitable. I know I would buy all versions, just as I've done with their '53 Bel Air, '60 Impala, '59 Caddy, etc.

You are right, Jada does do cars nobody else does. Everyone is doing the big rim/low profile tires now so it's not unique to Jada anymore. Jada needs to take their unique castings and do them with the new age wheel/tire combo plus do them with old school rims/tires to appeal to a larger customer base.
Atencio 11-23-2005, 03:57 PM I can't say I have any real complaint about Jada diecasts. They do a nice mix of castings with some unique choices. One comment I would make is that I don't display them next to my JLs. The wheels, size , and colors of the Jadas just don't make the two brands look good next to each other. Of course there are a few exceptions to this rule, like the Ford GT's which I put with the JL and MB GT's. Most of the other Jadas though and especially the BTM cars look better when they are all displayed together. The chrome wheels and splashes of colors look awesome.
xusyaBe 11-23-2005, 06:54 PM my only "gripe" is I wish they were all the same size they dont fit well in the acrylic display case that are being sold only some of them do
Atencio 11-24-2005, 10:26 AM Yeah, theres that also. I have about 30 Dodge Daytonas and some dragsters that don't fit either. I had a wide narrow cabinet made with about 30 glass shelves to put my hard to place pieces in. Its pretty nice but the acrylic cases still look a little better for display purposes.
