iamweasel 11-15-2005, 03:36 PM I just read that before coming here. What a great 2 days worth of DVD news, a few more announcements and I would have my top DVD wish list fulfilled.
rw2516 11-15-2005, 05:05 PM Mission: Impossible is also coming to dvd whenever the 3rd movie gets made. Paramount has been working on them for awhile but the movie keeps getting postponed. By the time the movie finally comes out they might have the entire series done and dump them on us a season every month or something.
JGG1701 11-16-2005, 05:54 PM What about "The Six Million Dollar Man"????????? :o
CaptFrank 11-16-2005, 10:00 PM I seem to remember reading there is a movie in the works
for "The Bionic Woman", and a TV show for "The Six Million
Dollar Man".
John P 11-17-2005, 08:58 AM What I heard was there was a $6M Man movie in the works. It had started off as a serious project, but Jim Carrey hijacked it and wants to make it as a comedy.
Lloyd Collins 11-17-2005, 10:13 AM I like all the TV series coming to DVD, but, BUT WHERE DO I GET THE MONEY FOR THEM?

Jumping on the Brady Bunch movie coat tails. Originality isn't just dead in Hollywood, it's frickin' buried and putrified. Though I guess we can all remember the amazing success of the Starsky and Hutch parody. Biggest movie of all time IIRC. :freak:

Yeah, 'cause the Brady Brunch was such taut family drama in it's original incarnation...
Steve244 11-17-2005, 01:08 PM Which of the Brady Bunch gals would you most want to be stranded on Gilligan's Island with?

Gawd , I hope not !
Carson Dyle 11-17-2005, 06:22 PM The aforementioned Jim Carrey "Six Million Dollar Man" project was announced in the trades about eight months ago, but I haven't heard anything since then. Maybe if we wish really hard it will just go away.

Starsky and Hutch did quite well at the box-office and in DVD sales. Which is why "Hollywood" keeps churning out re-makes. So - you can only blame the theater-goers and DVD customers who embrace this type of product for the lack of originality coming out of "Hollywood". If I can get to the theaters over the next couple of weeks I plan on seeing "Walk The Line", "Syriana", "Good Night and Good Luck" and "Capote". None of these movies are exactly unoriginal "Hollywood Product" and none of them will likely do boffo box-office either. I wonder why?

I haven't seen "Walk the Line" yet, but you're in for a treat with the other titles mentioned above. Interesting subject matter... solid writing... terrific performances (Seymour Phillip Hoffman is amazing as T.C.).
None of these films will be a blockbuster, but neither will any of them lose money. Thank God for guys like George Clooney who not only have the clout but also the desire to make the occasional movie for grown-ups.
CaptFrank 11-17-2005, 08:51 PM Which of the Brady Bunch gals would you most want to be stranded on Gilligan's Island with?
Marsha.
(Is it "Marsha" or "Marcia"?)
There is a "Marsha", isn't there?
The oldest one?
El Gato 11-17-2005, 09:03 PM Which of the Brady Bunch gals would you most want to be stranded on Gilligan's Island with?
Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. She still looks smoking too.
Cindy didn't turn out bad either. Please, no catcalls or pedophile accusations. My observation's purely from a post-21, adult version of Cindy.

Yes, I very much like the way Clooney has used his clout. And I've seen clips from "Capote" and damned if Hoffman hasn't nailed Capote - seemingly, an almost impossible thing to do.

Just when I spent a small fortune collecting the Columbia House first season of WWW off e-bay! And, yes, I'll buy this new set too!

of course not. Besides we were what, like 12 then?
Marcia seems a bit shrill.
My bet's on Alice. Women that cook... ;)
PhilipMarlowe 11-18-2005, 03:40 PM I prefer the Marcia from the movies, even if she did marry Ben Stiller.
GLU Sniffah 11-18-2005, 03:49 PM Didn't Mrs. Brady have a thing for Bobby? :D
El Gato 11-18-2005, 04:50 PM Actually, I caught the Brady Bunch in reruns. When I was 12, it would be Cindy who'd be accused of pedophilia!
Of course, now we're all adults so it don't matter....
José

Dude! Visual overload, k? Not what I wanted in my head this soon after breakfast...

I believe It Was Greg (Johnny Bravo) Brady lol

scotpens 11-22-2005, 04:12 AM . . . I've seen clips from "Capote" and damned if Hoffman hasn't nailed Capote - seemingly, an almost impossible thing to do. Robert Morse also did a very creditable job of portraying Truman Capote in the one-man show "Tru," for which he won both a Tony and an Emmy award. Don't know if it's available on DVD.
Zorro 11-23-2005, 03:14 PM Dude! Visual overload, k? Not what I wanted in my head this soon after breakfast...
Knew somebody was gonna say that.:) Saw the movie Tuesday night. It takes about 30 seconds to forget that you're watching an actor rather than the real thing. A powerful, somber, and disturbing movie that will stay with you long after you've left the theater.
