Yes, but apparently the only way to get it is to order it used.

I picked this DVD up at Monster In Motion's retail location in Placentia California about a month ago. They still have some available. You might be able to find it on their website at www.monstersinmotion.com (http://www.monstersinmotion.com/) However, sometimes they don't list all their DVD's, it's best to call and order it directly from them.

It's a nice DVD, but I agree with the review. It's an odd mish mash with no explanation to what we are watching. It does make a nice bonus disc to the recently released version of the classic Paramount feature. The lead actor in the WOTW pilot is Charles Bateman. He is known to many Disneyland fans as one of the astronauts that took you on a journey to the moon, from the old defunct ROCKET TO THE MOON ride in Tomorrowland.

I remember seeing something about this in STARLOG back in the '70s. It was in connection with a special effects technique called, I think, Magicam. Essentially, it used two cameras linked together, one on a blue-screen stage, one on a miniature set. The magazine had a test shot from WOTW.

You also get to see rare footage of the early incarnation of what later became known as the Magicam process of using advanced video keying and compositing and electronically linked cameras to combine live actors into miniature settings. Very effective, even in this early stage, that you can see in the proposal.

Much of this material was taken from 3/4" videotape with it's characteristic timecode chatter bleedthrough in the audio track. You'll really have to crank up the sound to hear the proposal sequences. Just remember to turn it down again afterward!

I remembered that in Starlog. I have always wondered what happened to that WOW. I did not even think that this was the series. They used that system for Cosmos series, if I remember right.

I have this one from RetroFLICKS, http://retroflicks.com/shop/store/00050.html
It includes the TV presentation reel, behind the scenes at Matt Jeffries design studio (some Trek stuff is seen in the background), and special effect outtakes.

I personally never thought much of the TV series. It seemed too much of Roy Thinnes's "The Invaders" re-packaged. The martians were stored in barrels before finally taking over humans. Nothing new. I'd rather see 'The Invaders" make a comback. At least we got to see cool ships.

No, he's talking about something completely different.

Well, that is... If you're talking about the 1988 TV Series. The one they're talking about here was to have been a TV series in the early 1970's.

during the 70's pal tried and tried to get a new project going, but noone would give him a chance.

I hate to sound like a broken record or seem nitpicky, but the word noone is a name, as in Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits), and is pronounced "noon".

"... but no one would give him a chance" is what you meant to say. Yes?
