Well first I would like say nice board and very informative.
Now to my problem; I have a murray 22" push mower with a B&S 5.75 HP Quamtum Engine (12H802-2328-E1) purchased new at Walmart in 1999. It has started on the first pull since new. The last run of the lawn this year was stopped midstream by the engine making a noise and dying.
Now when I pull the start cord (way too easy), the cutting blade just seems to spin with the movement of the pull rope. The only friction I seem to get is when the "dead man" bail is released ( like some brake is being applied). Is this repairable? Any good ideas?
I have overhauled (with sucess) a couple 1.6 liter Ford engines ( circa 1971) in my younger days, but have been working mostly electronics since then. My real question is when is an engine a goner?
Thanks in Advance.
