View Full Version : Why don't manufactures update their websites?

Here I am trying to decide on what car to purcase and they aren't listed on the manufactures website. I will not list names, but they know who they are. For example:
1. The C- site doesn't show the new products developed for their car, ie: shock tower brace, thick shock tower, and of course the new slider chassis.
2. The RED car company hasn't updated in over a year.
3. The BLUE car company doesn't show their gas car.
4. The A-- hobby store has been under construction forever.
5. The P--- brush company sells CW Aggressors, but they arn't listed on the website.
I understand that it takes time to list a new product, but it seems to me that they would update as new item become available or why even pay for a website?
Thanks for letting me vent.

Your assumption that the 'red' site hasn't updated in over a year is false. Sorry.

The Heck with all the other sites. All you need is one,,,,Lefthander R/C. All the parts and car selection you could ever need, any questions, e-mail Hays Jr, or Sr. or give them a call. Their site is updated weekly if not daily. They race what they sell, they can get it done for you...............

The Maverick site gets updated almost once a week. More info on that site then all the other manufactures put together. I have nothing to do with it, jake puts a lot of time and effort into all aspects of his company.

Not trying to start anything. Just posting it as I see it.

Tis a shame when you have to go to on-line forums and hobby shops to find out what is new. One would think that the manufactures could update when new releases are made. Maybe the ones that don't update are ashamed of their products. Darkside, Maverick, Bandit sites are always fresh.

Ashamed is somewhat of a harsh word. Most manufacturers do not have an IT department let alone an in-house webmaster.
Let's be honest results speak louder than words and if anyone is looking for the next greatest car, battery, motor, speedo, etc. you'll here about it on hobbytalk faster than reading it on an updated website.
I agree updated sites would be nice but I think developing faster race parts is better time and resources well spent.

There is no excuse to not have your site updated, as a webmaster, I know how much time it takes for updates, even site makeovers is a matter of hours.
I have herd "I have no time"...that is just bull!!! In 3 seasons you have not had
10 min to talk to your web guy for updates...please.....people out of the know buy that answer, but for the guys that do it, it not even close....
And to NOT have the new product line on your site is just crazy....today the web is the yellow pages of the past, people go to the web first. Sites that are not updated just looks like you do not care about you'r business.
I will put this out there, Any one in the RC business i will update your site for 50$
facelift/new site 200$ with one month support untill you are happy with it!

...we're too busy building products and filling all the orders that are flying off the shelves...and flying on the track...

If our site not being updated has had a negative affect on our sales, I'm not sure I want it updated...we're so busy we couldn't possibly handle the increased demand if it were updated...:freak:

Unfortunately for us, I'm sure mine will be updated by my web-pimp soon. Brace yourselves men...

Yes, I'm also the accountant, enginneer, packaging staff, travel agent, materials orderer, prototype machinist, receptionist, graphic designer, and team manager....in addition to the regular 50+ hour per week job. When I get everything else done, I occasionally get to race.

Look I'm as guilty as alot of the others being called out on this page and as they say the customer is right. I appreciated being called out on here as one of the guys that keeps stuff current. Believe me, I really wish I had the time to really provide an exceptional website. I have so many ideas that simply go by the wayside because of lack of time. I've looked around to the websites of various companies and some are better (Maverick for example is one of the best IMOHO) than others.

I can tell you that we've got a redesign coming on the Darkside site soon and we'll finally have all of the part pictures available!
