Here's the finished Daytona Concept. What's been done since the bodies were rejoined is:
Windows were cut from blister and set aside until car was painted.
Brass pipe screen was cut for radiator/oil cooler and side vents. These too were set aside until car was painted.
Last coat of Krylon Gray Primer was applied and the finish coats of Duplicolor in a Nassau Blue shade was sprayed on.
The windows were glued in with Elmers White Glue.
Grill and vents were then Krazy glue'd in.
A straight pin head and a very small piece of 1/16 aluminum tube serve as gas filler cap.
The tail lamps are glass beads.
The head lamps are carefully gound out with a Dremel Barrel cutter and glazed over with clear epoxy.
The sideview mirrors are small finishing nail heads.
The stripes are white Testors decal material from a scrap sheet.
Finally the whole body was finished off with Krylon Triple Coat Glaze.
The interior was painted saddle tan and a small piece of aluminum shelving paper was cut to fit as a dashboard facia. The guages were painted on and needles and hash marks scribed into the black paint.
The steering wheel is a punched piece of blister with the tan painted around the outer edge. A straight pin was glued into another small piece of 1/16 tube to form the steering column.
The shifter is another straight pin.

Several days into this project I found out HW's just made the GR1 Daytona. They usually wait at least a week or two before mass-producing something I've put forth the effort to make. But at least this is a great way to compare the design approach from the original Daytona vs. FORDS "better idea" vs. HW idea of FORD's "better idea" vs. any better ideas we have on FORD and HW's "better ideas." Because the first idea can't be improved.
