Welcome to the slot car addiction ;) In my opinion the Tomy/AFX track is the best.I would stay away from the Auora/AFX the tabs are weak.Life Like track is probably cheapest. As for cars the Johnny Lightning cars are the cheapest. If you want to go fast get some Tomy or Life Like cars.I haven't been doing this for along time but this is my opinion so far.

1/32 scale I would have to say Artin would be the best bang for the buck.I have Scalextric track and I love it.There are alot more car choices for 1/32.Cheapest would be Artin.Fly,Scalextric and Carerra are prob the best in my opinion.Do a Google search for 1/32 slot cars and you will find alot of helpfull web sites.

One of the best deals in 1/32 scale is Artin.
While the cars are a bit toylike people seem to be happy with the track...
Here is a picture of a sample set:

The track is supposed to be pretty good and an Artin 4 lane set
would be the low buck way to get into racing.
You don't have three people to race with you?
Set the 4 lane track up as a long two lane track....
And if you are looking for more opinions on Artin track try here:

(By the way, if you don't like the garish borders on the track you are not the only one. That is why they make paint... )
