heads up for all you campy spy lovers
The Dean Martin Matt Help series is coming out in Dec. (I think).
So who is your favorite female costar in the series?
I gotta go with Stella Stevens
or if you can count em' as one - the Slaygirls

I'd have to go with Sharon Tate in The Wrecking Crew. She wasn't just gorgeous — in this picture, she showed a fine flair for comedy. Runner-up: Ann-Margret in Murderer's Row.

Matt Helm shooting Miss January in front of map of Minnesota in "Murder's Row"
Miss J: "Where's my costume?"
Helm: "Here"
Hands here a hairpin
Helm: "Now move a little to the left, down by Duluth"
Miss J: "Ohh, that's my best feature!"
Helm: "Now lower your arm, we don't want to block the Twin Cities"
Afterward
Miss J: "What should I do with the costume?"
Helm: "Toss it in the ashtray"

I love Stella Stevens, I love Anne-Margaret (and how!), but none of them can hold a candle to Elke Sommer.

Yes, those were the days — after the Pill but before AIDS, before Political Correctness, before anyone thought of putting the words "sexual" and "harrassment" together. (Austin Powers accent) It was a great time to SWING, baby!
Too bad I was still in high school!
For an interesting comparison of the Matt Helm movies and the novels they were very loosely based on, try:

Stevens and Tate were awesome, just awesome. I preferred the Flint movies because of the character and the Goldsmith theme, but the Helm flicks (except for the one with the flying saucer in Mexico) were a whole lot of fun.
Has anybody here ever read the FLINTLOCK teleplay? Harlan Ellison wrote a Flint TV installment when a series was being mulled over (during the same time period, I think, when they did that unfortunate MATT HELM tv series in the 70s.) The script is almost like FLINT meets THE PRISONER, very very clever stuff.
