Remember TOS episode "Patterns Of Force"? in that one Kirk lets Spock Stand on his Back to reach a Window or Something,Well I guess it's come back to haunt our "Dear Captain Kirk" I just read this, Btw I feel his Pain:

Shatner taken to hospital with back pain
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Boston Legal star William Shatner was taken to a hospital from the set of the ABC series Tuesday after complaining of lower back pain, a spokeswoman said.

Shatner, 74, had completed filming for the day at the Manhattan Beach studio when the problem occurred, series publicist Stacey Luchs said.

He was being checked out at a nearby hospital and was expected to return to work Wednesday, Luchs said.

The actor, who played Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series, received an Emmy Award last month for his portrayal of attorney Denny Crane on the ABC series.

It was his second Emmy for playing the character, who was first introduced on ABC's The Practice.

I remember that episode. It was the one where Spock held two transponders close together to the light to allow a beam to cut the lock on a cell door.

"You do realize, of course, that the aim will be crude."

"I....don't care....if you hit the broad side of a barn."

"Why would I endeavor to aim at such a structure?"

"Mr. Spock, the guard did a very thorough job on my back. I'd appreciate it if you could get on with the job."

"I....don't care....if you hit the broad side of a barn."

That line right there, and the delivery, was an early indicator that Shatner has great comic timing. It was intentionally funny without being over the top (see "The Trouble With Tribbles").

I agree...it was a nice bit of gallows humor that fit the episode and situation well.

"Tribbles" is indeed over the top...but gets away with it due to David Gerrold's writing. The only other piece of comic TOS I'd love to see on screen is the novel "How Much for Just the Planet?" - if that had been made as an episode (or TV movie), it would have been a classic. It's over the top, without sliding into stupidity...just one of those "what the hell else can go wrong" kinda things.
