Hi all

Seeing that nothing had been started on the section, I decided to be the first one to post here.

My 1997 Geo Metro has been worked on a bit. One of the items I have like on other cars is the nice alloy intake tubes and reusable filters. The Geo lacked way of getting one of this on. So I made a metal box to replace factory air cleaner and allowed the oversized alloy tubing to be put in place.

I used a set of old tin snips to cut out the base material. I brought home a piece of steel from work. I work in a metal stamping plant that makes inner body parts for Honda and Chrysler.

I was put on clean-up duty and found a piece of metal block that had been used for some type of die work but had been scrapped. It was a great tool for forming the 90 degree bends needed for making up the intake box section of the project. I used a hammer to form all the bends. It may not be the greatest way to go about doing something like this but it worked out.

Go to these links to see what I did to make it.

Seeing that there are no aftermarket parts like that for the Geo Metro, it is nice to know you do have the option of making it yourself. The car still runs very nice as well!!

Nothing new has been done to the car. It is still on and works nicely.

Never underestimate the capabilities of a hammer and welder!

Good work!
