View Full Version : New Oval Track in Altoona, PA Race Station 10-17-2005, 12:17 AM Opening Day.... Sat. 11.05.05 First Race....... Sun. 11.13.05 For more info.. www.altoonaraceway.com jsrocket13 10-17-2005, 09:45 AM what classes and kind of track DanHood 10-17-2005, 09:05 PM so let me get this right, you are not going to run 4 cell stock? just 6 cell stock? i mean thats just more money for racers to come up with. i mean i live in latrobe, not that far from you guys by any means, i would like to race your track, but if i would have to buy new batteries just to run there, count me out. i am sure that will turn away others as well. so i am hopeing that you will consider running 4 cell nascar instead of 6.. Dan Hood JRN 10-17-2005, 09:16 PM llike dan posted i'm from blairsville and we run 4 cell stock so if you run 4 cell stock you might get some of us to come up and race some time Race Station 10-18-2005, 01:19 AM Whoa...... We just moved the hobby shop and will be building the track very soon. We put up some preliminary rules and classes just to get things started. NASCAR is going to be a BIG class, and we will run whatever is best for everyone. That may take some experimentation. This is our first crack at this with a permanent facility and we want to get it right. So please provide some input. What is better about 4 cell stock vs. 6 cell stock.....other than price (that's obvious) Is it better racing??? Race Station 10-18-2005, 01:21 AM We will always run any class with 3 entries. Of course we would like to have fewer classes with more entries....so whats better 4 or 6 cell stock? JRN 10-18-2005, 09:22 AM I VOTE for 4 cell DanHood 10-18-2005, 06:58 PM 4 cell is closer raceing, comes down to set up and driveing, 6 cell, raceing isnt as close, cars are fast it turns into a novlice class, and alot of things get broke..and COST is hugh issue.... Race Station 10-18-2005, 09:32 PM After discussions with local racers we have decided to run a 4 cell/stock motor class. A 19T class may be added as well. www.altoonaraceway.com icenutz 10-18-2005, 11:00 PM It would be great for some of the racers from the Latrobe area (and other areas) to come to Altoona. I grew up just outside Latrobe in Mt. Pleasant. I moved to Johnstown several years ago and have been going to Altoona Raceway since it all started a couple years ago. Doug and Chuck who run the track are great and very dedicated. The group of drivers at the track are also a great group of guys. The hobby shop will also be located at the track. The Oval class is new to me but not all of the guys in Altoona. For me, it would be nice to get a few pointers. You can also feel free to kick my @$$ on the track. I am sure it will be a great winter in Altoona!! The 6-cell stock oval class came from many of the guys already having 6-cell packs. We debated 4 or 6 but I now see Chuck has made it a 4-cell class. DanHood 10-19-2005, 09:24 AM sound good, i am also from mt.pleasant.. i will be there for the first race.. Race Station 10-20-2005, 10:38 PM Thanks Dan, can't wait to race!!! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
