a few years back,www.diecastmuscle used to have these listed as "out of stock" on their site. a little over a year ago they completely removed the listing from their site. i thought they were just a release that never happened. if they are out there, their production #'s has to be very very low. i did all kinds of internet searches and checked e.bay daily with the hope of finding one. i couldn't even find a pic of one. it would be nice if someone had a contact from someone on the inside of rc2 to get more info on these. you would think these would sell like mad.

that is correct
the part # are
ERT7831 (red)
ERT7832 (black)
these were supposed to have been issued in january of 1998 which seems to be odd considering that the car only came out a few months prior. it also seems odd that they are using the early 4th gen casting for their most recent releases. i think if the 98 style was ever produced, we would be seeing different color variations in the latest releases instead of the older style.
you can find out the info on them here
http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/html/asp/list_reviews/xq/ASP/manufacturer.Ertl/classification.American+Muscle/searchScale./sort1./sort2./sort3./step.650/qx/reviewresults.htm
for some reason, they are showing the 98 as still being a current run instead of discontinued.

I didn't want to say this earlier until i was able to make sure. But I confirmed it with my wife. About 2 years ago when I started looking for 1998-2002 Black Trans Am WS6 models on ebay. I came across a 1:18 scale T-top Red Trans Am. It was in a large box, only showing the body, and the rest of the kit was not visiable in the box. It was a diecast model kit that needed to be assembled. (I didn't get it b/c at first I was only going to collect black, b/c my real car is black, but then decided recently I wanted to collect all colors)
I asked my wife about it and she remembered it too b/c I was trying my hardest after that to find one in Black. I also remember it was selling for alot.
