Hey Guys I'm just looking to see where you all are falling on this topic. Even though I'm sure this will probably be an even split it has been an question that keeps coming up year after year.

3 HEATS & 1 MAIN VS. 2 HEATS & 1 MAIN.

Thanks,
John

PS. This is just me asking this not Ken, though he will likely see the results. Please keep in mind that the start time can't be earlier than 5 PM because the store is still open for business, and many people work on Saturday.

I second that. Practice is to knock the rust off. Heats show your adjustments as true +/- in race trim. I feel as though the 3rd heat is very valuable so maybe starting earlier is an option. This is a tough deal because I worked Saturdays for 10 years and know that everyone can't make it, so let's get some input.

Gotta go with Fiz... 2 heats and 1 Main, and get everyone out of there at a reasonable hour...especially since you can't start earlier due to the retail store.
For those who want additional track time/practice, tracks open all day Saturday...

Possibly cut all races down to 4 minutes. Would save about 10 minutes per round=40 minutes for the night. Most tracks are running 4 minutes now days. Just throwing another idea out there. I would prefer 4 minute racing to one less heat.

Tommy, modified IS 4 minutes, LOL.
One more thing I like about Racing city is the 5 minute racing, 19 turn 5 minutes is nice, I'd even try 5 minute mod, I think with the new batterys we could do it, afterall, I was making time with 360 second batterys without effort. Now with 430 I think we can add a minute...We'd do 100 laps, LOL.

See you tonight.

Could base it on # of entries - big turnout, 2 heats; light turnout, 3 heats...

is there normaly a 19t class each week? and what is the motor rule?
thinking of coming over this saturday.
as for 3+1 is nice but for out of town people you would need to start earlier.
last year 2+1 got us home around 1:30 am. 2 hour ride 1 way.

Hey TJ. Most of the guys that normally would run 19T seem bent this year on running 4 cell open mod. Ken is always happy to run any class so long as there are 3 or more cars per to make it a race. My advice is talk to those guys like John & Scott H, Chris Harrington, Bret Lund, Tommy gun ect. to see what they are in the mood for. As for a web page I'm not sure where Ken is at with a repalcement for his old one. For future race info see the 2006 season page on hobby talk once this poll ends.

I don't want to travel 2 hours to run just 2 heats. what's wrong with just moving the start time. instead of 6:00 pm make it 4:00 pm.

I think 3PM would work, wouldn't it???

TJ. 19 turn motors are pretty open, if you use ARCOR rules you'll be good to go.

I'll run 19 turn or modified...

I guess the question now should be, who could not make it in time for an earlier start? Say 4:00 or 5:00. I know there are some now who have to push it to make a 6:00 start. We don't want to leave anyone out.

The question should ALSO be - if someone couldn't make it, is that someone also in favor of only two heats? If that is the case then they are only missing one heat at that point anyway.

No need for an earlier start time, or three rounds of qualifying for regular weekly racing.

I realy think racing should start at 4:00 then we can run 3 heats. I beleive most if not all have saterday off from work (you can't please everyone) . If you start at 6:00 2 heats. I like your Idea Mike but you know as well as I do If there is a light tunout there is always that dumb idea of longer breaks between rounds.

So far 3 + 1 outnumbers 2 + 1 by a vote of 20 to 8 so I don't see us cutting back on that. I still have concerns about starting earlier for people that work Sat being able to make it. With the car counts we have been getting so far we are usually done by about 10:30. That's with 6 or 7 heats and 20 minute breaks between rounds. We could run 10 to 12 heats in the same amount of time with just shorter or no breaks. If the car counts get larger we will do a resort after 2 rounds, so if you want to leave after 3 rounds that's really the same as running your main.

Hey everyone. I know that you all think it might be easier to start earlier in the day, but as I mentioned from the very beginning the start time WILL NOT be changing so I think we can all let that point go. Ken is running a retail store that is open until 5:00 and since he is the primary guy that has to run the races and the store it cannot happen any other way. I know that I haven't been there to help run things but the I'm sure that the ship is sailing smoothly without me. The only reason I started this poll was to see if the grumblings that I had heard in the pits over the past several years were still in the air, not to make an issue over start time. I understand that looking at the small picture it might work, but we need to look BIG PICTURE here. Plus I don't think 10:30 PM is really that late unless you happen to be an idiot like me that works 7 days a week or have a small child. I'm not trying to dump on all of your ideas, but I think the poll results thus far speak for themselves.
