View Full Version : Barre VT Turkey Shootout *Last Race*
rtourangeau3 10-12-2005, 08:04 AM The Barre VT Turkey Shootout could be the last big race at Barretown Speedway.
The race is no longer a handout motor race and entry fee is $25.
Due to higher fuel cost and low attendance during the weekly racing Barre Speedway can no longer afford to be open.
Please make sure you make it to this race. Barre has one of the best trophy races in the northeast. 60 to 80 drivers normally attend.
mightymidget 10-12-2005, 12:36 PM i'll try to make it over and bring the bus load of Plattsburgh posse with me, i'm really sorry to see Barre track close down,i can't believe more locals don't surport the track.

Now you're talking! I'll make it down for sure! Too bad you have to shut down the place afterwards. All that hard work invested to put up such a cool track...

u2racer 10-19-2005, 07:09 PM Pace, I will be there for sure. I will be running stock, that is what seems to draw the biggest turnout and makes for better racing on that size track. It will be to bad to see it go. I personally have been traveling to Barre off and on for about 15 years, I have seen 4 different oval tracks and one touring car track, definately some of my best memories of races come from this club. Bob T and the gang have done all they could do to keep it open over the years even if it meant dipping into there own pocket to keep it going, and for that I thank them for all of their efforts. Hope to see alot of people there to send it off with a BANG!!

N2RACN 10-19-2005, 09:32 PM anyone know any local hotels near by. will be making the trip and need some info.
also if there is a starting setup for there that would be very helpful also. running a KSG with TRC tires. never been and want to make the trip before they close. sad to see any race track close.
thanks jeremy

Take the same exit off I-89 that you would take for the track, but instead of turning left at the flasher, keep going down the hill. Then, go down the hill some more, keep going down (It's a long way's down from a flatlander's point of view LOL!) until you hit the traffic light. At the light turn left, go about 1 or 2 miles and you'll see it on your right.
RTOURANGEAU 10-25-2005, 09:55 AM Only 2 more weeks till the Turkey Shootout 5-6 November, it should be a big one and may be the last one so, don't miss it. We need a really big crowd to decide what we are going to do so, come on up this Sunday and get your practice in so your ready. See everyone there for one of the biggest races in the Northeast, let's have some FUN.

rtourangeau3 11-02-2005, 09:00 AM EVERYBODY is going. I have yet to talk to someone who is not going to this trophy race. It will be a packed house for sure. We will be monitoring the pit spaces to pack as many people in for this weekend. Its supposed to be nice out so if we have to we can pit outside.... JK .....
For anyone who is going on Sat. Sat night I think we are going to try to run a small club race for anyone who wants to run some hot laps in heats.
See you there.
Steve, I have your spots saved. See you Sun morning.
Tommygun43 11-02-2005, 03:36 PM Hi. What are the rules for 19 turn motors? (P-94's?)
Not sure if everything is set in stone for sure that this will be the last race. If not, I bet you could raise $600 if there was a donation box set up. If everyone gave half of what we would have paid for the handout motors that would be about right. Not sure if that would help much either.
rtourangeau3 11-02-2005, 05:24 PM Tommy,
Not too many people run 19t. We would go by ARCOR rules. Stand ups only.
See you there.
RTOURANGEAU 11-03-2005, 05:14 PM Getting closer only a couple of days left, start charging batteries now. I have about 20 people presigned up on the web. Come join us on one of the fastest short tracks in New England for a great weekend of FUN. See you there
Bob T
Outlaw 44 11-03-2005, 06:30 PM Just want to know
Does your lap counter run personal transponders?
What's your minimum weight rule w. or w.o. transponder for 4 cell?
Do you allow a wing on the rear of the body in 4 cell?
RTOURANGEAU 11-03-2005, 08:26 PM No personal transponders, 38 oz without transponder, you can run a wing if you want to but, you don't need one. See you this weekend
Bob T
rckfracing 11-03-2005, 10:57 PM I'll have to ask Keith If he wants to go, but if he goes, I will be there....
Whos up for a ride into the big city to BK to hit on the jiffy-mart ladies??
I'm going to get gas tonight so I don't have to stop on the way over, bad gas milage with my truck.
hopefully I can keep the streak alive, and by streak I do not mean nude... Two throphy races this year two A-mains. I know I just jinx'd myself, knock on lexan body tho..
Christopher Walsh, Are you bringing fillip (phillip)?? I hope so he can look at my car and just say. "what the hell is that thing??" and make my weekend LOL.
a word of advice...IF I"M AROUND...when your walking down the stairs from the track, DO NOT DUCK, I need a good laugh
Is there going to be food on-site??bar-b-que or something??
mightymidget 11-04-2005, 01:22 PM BOB, I can't make the race this weekend,i'm months behind on work i got to get done before winter sets in,hopefully this won't be the last trophie race you guys have.
Dan Dubuque
rtourangeau3 11-04-2005, 02:18 PM Dan,
Your going to miss a good one. I don't think we will be open much longer though. If there is any way possible that you can make it this would be the one to make. Hope to see you there.

disruptor10 11-06-2005, 09:29 PM Any results yet ?
RTOURANGEAU 11-07-2005, 09:34 AM Well we had a great race, 61 drivers coverged onto Barretown Speedway to do battle for the weekend and I want to thank each and everyone of you, I hope everyone had a good time and allot of FUN. We had a club meeting after the event and decided to keep the track open till the end of the month and discuss our situation with the landlord to see if we can cut a deal, We'll see. No matter what I will keep everyone informed. You will receive points for the Turkey Shootout incase we are able to make it to the New Years Bash in January 2006 ?? Again, Thank you to everyone that attended, we definitly can not do it without YOU, hopefully, the website will be updated with the results later on today or tomorrow. See everyone soon

!!!!!
rtourangeau3 11-07-2005, 05:40 PM One word "SALVAS"
Outlaw 44 11-07-2005, 08:08 PM If you guys hang around long enough I'll come down for the New Year's Bash. It would be a shame to throw that track in the trash. That new carpet kicks ass, me and Martin had a blast! And it felt good to lose a little weight (on the car of course!). We tried to get Pat Robidoux to come down but it was his weekend with the daughter.
huntoon26 11-07-2005, 08:33 PM I had a great time, track was fast and things went smoothly, hope you can continue to run.
RTOURANGEAU 11-11-2005, 02:27 PM It looks like Barretown Speedway is not closing it's doors yet, they are going to make it to Race # 2 The New Years Bash on January 7-8 2006. So, come on down on Sunday's for some great short track racing and help keep the doors open.
