Thinking about the 90 OHM Parma for my JLTO & JLXT. All I've ever used are stock controls. Will I be happy with 90 or should I opt for a 120 OHM? Just looking for smoother control.

I opted for a Parma/Nitro 120. I'm happy with it. It makes a world of difference with the T-Jets. I suppose that a 90 ohm controller would be better than the stock ones. I figured that if they cost about the same, I'd go for the gusto and see how the 120 works.

I bought a pair of the BRP Nitro controllers fitted with the 120 ohm resistor and a fuse in the handle.Just like Fred said,it made a world of difference.

Before then I was using Parma 45 ohm Econos, which were only slightly better with the JL's then the stock set controllers. The 120's fixed that tho.

So until I get up some dough for some electronic controllers,it's 45's for the magnet cars, and 120's for the pancakes.

The BRP Nitros are a more clever design than the linear wound high resistance controllers. Putting the fuse inline is also a good idea because the high resistance controllers tend to have longer but lighter gauge windings.

I've been hearing good things about the lower cost Professor Motor HO controllers. They start in the $50-$60 range but if they truly work well with everything from TJets to a superstock magnet cars, as they claim to, they are a good alternative to buying multiple controllers. Their construction quality seems excellent.

I just picked up a couple of the PARMA 90s. They work great with the JL TOs. A big improvement over the stock controllers in size/smoothness/controlability.

I have to squeeze the trigger about 1/3 of the way before my XTs start to move tho' which leaves me to beleive the PARMA 60s might be a better choice for the XTs?

The BRP nitro 120s are probably the best resister controllers for the TOs but are twice the price of the PARMA 90s.

I have two of the 45's and two of the 120's.So when we race,I give the newer guys the advantage of using the controlers that match the particular car type we are racing better.Which means I am racing my G3 SS with a 120,which is kind of wacky but I can do it.

But rather then buy two more of each type,I think I am going to just go the extra mile and look into the cheaper versions of the "one size fits all" electronic controllers and get four of those and be done.
